Thinking about the State Fair and deep fried Oreos. by @morrisaurus17

In late January, I took the most important road trip of my life to move the most important person in my life, Jess, from Canada to the United States.

In the years leading up to the move, we planned endlessly, legally married in a courtroom, and dug up literally everything we had documented about ourselves as she built her entire case for immigration from the ground up to represent herself as a prospective permanent resident of the US.

We endured the COVID shutdowns, the extremes of personal tragedy, death, and a life of never really knowing if we’d have a shot at a future. After all, everything we hoped for hinged on how multiple layers of immigration agents felt the days they laid eyes on our case.

We overcame the challenges of both of us having to find new jobs, navigating our city under the curtain of terror known as ICE, and coming to terms with the fact that it never really mattered if you immigrated “the right way” like we did. Despite it all, we both have a new place we can call home in Minneapolis, two jobs we’re both happy to show up to every day, and two cats to come home to at the end of it.

It almost doesn’t seem real after years of miserable slog and so many things bigger than you having real control of your life. But even in the moments where I’ve been at my weakest and faced my greatest days of despair, she’s always been there to pick me right back up. Only now are things much more certain for us.

I’ve played my cards close to my chest about this for a long while. Too long, even. I could never find it in myself to talk about something so monumental that was never guaranteed until it was. Had it been taken away from me at any point during this grave ordeal, it would’ve irreparably broken my heart.

No longer. We can finally afford to look forward to the future every day now. And I’m comforted by the fact that we can take on any challenge life might throw at us, because we already went through hell and back.

If you haven’t met her, I can’t wait to introduce you. She’s a beautiful person and an incredible musician.

This picture is our first on US soil with her as a permanent resident. We bought a bunch of BS from the gas station. by @morrisaurus17

It’s been an absolute privilege to keep up with @leyland_pedals over the years. The newest addition to his killer lineup of gear is something I’ve been looking forward to for some time.

The Peace Lily is an incredibly faithful recreation of the Ibanez Soundtank PL5 from the 1990s. The Peace Lily features much sturdier housing, more flexible controls, and an astronomic upgrade with a soft-clicking foot switch.

Its Power Lead predecessor sounded fantastic, but while affordable, was notoriously unreliable and cased in cheap plastic. The Peace Lily serves to give the PL5s killer tone a house fit for a king and to turn the clock on your 90s hi-gain tendencies back 30 years.

Sorry for any short instances of playing out of meter. I was playing so loud I could barely hear the reference track in my earbuds. Master volume = all tha way up baybee

Also who is stoked for Slide Away Fest?? Do you know how lucky we are that’s even a thing???
