I can’t believe I am writing this…
My nephew, Elijah Zane Morton, born on April 1, 2001, left this universe on August 4, 2026. He was one of the most curious, hysterical, and completely unique humans I had the honor of being family with.

He lived so many more lives than 25.

He traveled the world and had a lust for life that was unlike most people. He was curious about everything. He touched so many people and had a vast, unique, and wonderfully varied group of friends.

When he was little, he would come to our house and immediately start exploring my garage and every gadget I had. He would ask if he could take apart a camera, go through my makeup bag, and open every little container just to see what was inside. That curiosity never left him.

He loved riding his motorized vehicles through the desert. He was always thinking about a new idea, a new adventure, a new way to do something. He wasn’t interested in being told how things were supposed to be done. He wanted to figure them out for himself.

I think what I have learned most from my nephew Eli was his complete lack of fear when it came to living. He just did things!

It was no secret that Eli was my mom’s favorite grandchild. They had a special connection that was completely their own. He never missed a beat when it came to Grammy—he would call her, go see her, check in on her, and make sure she knew how much he loved her. And she absolutely adored him.

I will miss your smile, deep voice, stories of whatever you were up to, your big brown eyes, amazing ears, and your gargantuan hugs.

We will cherish every moment we were lucky enough to have with you, and we will carry your curiosity, your humor, your courage, and your incredible spirit with us always.

Say hi to Dad, Harry, Burt, Sally and ALL the animals.

When our friends Kaye and Jon Steinsapir lost their 12-year-old daughter, Molly, in a tragic electric bike accident during COVID, we all came together to surround them with love the best we knew how.
Five years later, Kaye continues to inspire us with her choice to turn unimaginable pain into purpose.
By honoring Molly’s legacy, giving to those in need, caring for others through their grief, and showing all of us every single day what it means to CHOOSE to carry on with purpose and love.
I am honored to serve on the board of this very important organization, @teammollyofficial alongside our daughter and her friends, who serve on the junior board @teammollyyouthboard

I have never worked on one painting at a time- at least not one I have liked. GeneralIy I work on 5-10 simultaneously traveling back and forth between the series. It’s how my brain works: add, adhd, processing issues. If I was a kid in this day and age teachers would have suggested an IEP, medications etc.

Against the idea of medicating kids (of course there are the exceptions). But so many of our young people under 13 are heavily medicated.

Finding the balance is for me some of my most challenging work but it’s the awareness that matters. Mother Nature is my greatest teacher - what about you?
