Lebanon is once again under a brutal, ongoing war.
As of March 16, 2026:
886 people killed, 2,141 injured, and over 1,050,000 displaced.
LGBTIQA+ individuals are among the most severely affected, facing exclusion from aid, unsafe shelter conditions, and heightened risks of violence and discrimination.
Many are struggling to access safe housing, cash assistance, medication, food, and basic necessities.
MOSAIC-MENA is mobilizing to provide urgent support, including:
• Safe temporary housing
• Emergency cash assistance
• Healthcare and medication
• Food and transportation
We are calling on our networks and allies to stand with us. Your support can make the difference between safety and survival.
Please donate, share, and amplify. No one in our community should be left behind.

Dear activists, friends and members of our growing Qawsuna community,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the postponement of the Qawsuna Summit to 1–4 April 2027.
Despite our continuous work and considerable efforts, we were unable to secure the funding required to organise a safe, inclusive and accessible Summit with at least the same impact as Qawsuna 2.0. In one of the world’s most underfunded regions, we do not want financial constraints to force us to organise a Summit that cannot provide our communities with the care, safety and impact they deserve.
More than 260 activists from across the Global South expressed interest in participating. Since its creation, Qawsuna has brought together more than 150 participants from over 16 countries, with the involvement of more than 35 organisations. These figures represent the relationships, trust, solidarity and collective power we have built together across borders.
This is a postponement, not a cancellation. Those who have already applied will not be asked to submit a new application, as all existing applications will remain valid. We will also reopen applications for one additional week before the Summit to give those who were previously unable to apply another opportunity.
Thank you for your trust and continued solidarity. We will meet again in strength and solidarity because Qawsuna will return stronger, more united and bigger than ever.
In solidarity and with appreciation,
The Qawsuna Team

Qawsuna is a regional protection, advocacy, care, and governance infrastructure connecting queer activists, organizations, artists, and allies across North Africa and West Asia. What began as a summit has evolved into a year-round movement infrastructure supporting cross-border coordination, crisis preparedness, collective care, learning, and strategic alignment. Rooted in the movements it serves, Qawsuna works to transform fragmented efforts into shared regional solidarity, political memory, and long-term systems for queer rights, survival, and resilience.

QUEER AND DISPLACED IN LEBANON.

Mosaic (@mosaic.mena) is a queer organization in Lebanon that opened up in 2014 to serve the queer community in the country. While the organization typically focuses on mental health, offering one-on-one therapy or group therapy to disenfranchised or struggling queer people, it has had to change tack recently. Israel’s escalation in Lebanon has forced Mosaic to turn itself into an emergency shelter for its queer community whose homes are located in destroyed neighborhoods.

I was invited to visit Mosaic’s first displacement shelter, and meet the new residents who are (literally) running from Israel’s aggressive onslaught. Mosaic is doing important work and is meeting the moment in Lebanon’s crisis.

Thank you to Yasmin Almokhamed Sarkisian for the art that helps keep our sources safe, and Moritz Wiesel for the expert edit. Thanks to Jihad Jneid and Mosaic for supplemental footage. And of course, please donate to Mosaic directly at their GoFundMe which you can find here:

On this International Women’s Day, we celebrate the strength, leadership, and resilience of women across Lebanon and the SWANA region.
In Lebanon, women have always been at the forefront, resisting war, sustaining communities through humanitarian crises, leading our human rights struggles, and standing on the frontlines of our revolution. Without Lebanese women, there would be no real resistance, no real solidarity, and no real movement for justice.
At MOSAIC, we also honour the incredible women behind our work, the staff, activists, volunteers, and community members who continue to support LGBTIQA+ communities with courage and compassion, even through the most difficult times.
Today and every day, we stand with all women who continue to push forward, organize, care, and lead despite adversity. Your resilience shapes our movements and our future.
