ⵣ SHILHA OUT NOW ⵣ Track 1 - Taroudant Dub Track 2 - Ouarzazat Siren All tracks produced/mixed/mastered by @ouellaaaaa Album Art by @jomania___ & @sama_lasheen About SHILHA: Shilha traces the lines between Amazigh musical identity and the evolving vocabulary of contemporary bass culture. Blending elements of dubstep, UK bass, and garage, Shilha positions tradition and futurity not as opposites, but as interwoven forces within Ouella’s artistic landscape. The project takes its name from Shilha, a Berber (Amazigh) language spoken in southwestern Morocco, grounding the release in personal and regional lineage. For Ouella — who comes from a Moroccan Amazigh background — the title is less a label and more a frame, an entry point into the textures, rhythms, and emotive aesthetics that shape the two tracks. Where many club producers draw loosely from global folk motifs, Shilha operates with intention: Amazigh and Moroccan chaabi rhythmic sensibilities are not sampled or referenced but reinterpreted through the architecture of rolling basslines, swung percussion, and low-end pressure. The result is a sound that is neither purist nor hybrid for the sake of hybridity — instead, it is a study in translation, memory, and groove. “These tracks come from a place that feels both familiar and rebuilt,” Ouella says. “I wanted to carry the energy of the sounds I grew up with — the pulse of Amazigh and Moroccan street music — into the bass-heavy spaces that shaped me later on. It’s about honoring what formed me and reshaping it with the tools I have now.” Across the two pieces, Shilha leans into subtle polyrhythms, tactile drum design, and a bass presence that’s more rolling than aggressive. Its club sensibility is clear, but so is its cultural anchoring: a celebration of Amazigh identity that resists nostalgia and instead imagines new possibilities for what diasporic electronic music can sound like. by @moshtrq

A note from the crew: It’s our pleasure to present the debut solo project of longtime friend & supporter of the crew, hardcore gamer, and dancefloor warrior - JOMANIA. Keep an eye on this one, she’s certainly one of the most exciting new voices to emerge from Cairo’s experimental/leftfield underground in recent years. A note from the artist: This project functions as a psychological study translated into experimental sound. It operates as a system of unresolved tension, documenting how unconscious processes impose themselves onto audio. It is also a personal excavation, a way to confront and give form to internal conflict through unconventional sound. Influenced by Silent Hill, Hellblade, Shadow of the Colossus, and Control — each grounded in Jungian archetypes — the work translates psychological symbols into audio form. The Shadow emerges through corrupted textures, distortion, reversed breaks, and static noise, while the Anima flickers in ethereal, atmospheric, and eerie ambient layers beneath the disruption.
