2024 felt like a quick one but it has been such a blessing.
I’m so grateful for my family. My Wife, Rea, Zion & Zoe. My Mom, Dad and Lily. All my Friends old and new. Thankful that I live on this beautiful island and I can do the things I love to do. Thank you for this amazing year 🙏🏽 🙏🏽 🙏🏽

[Some of the clips are from a morning that switched from a light breeze to a full on storm within minutes. We saw the rain heading towards us but we weren’t expecting the wind to be that strong. I was about to head in but both my reels started screaming. With the rain blasting me in the face where I could hardly see, I decided to fight the fish. The first one was a Ono I lost right next to the yak 😩 I ended up barely landing the second fish which was a Mahi. The winds switched to straight offshore and my fish finder started to glitch out so I had no idea how deep I was or where I was on the charts. As soon as I had the fish onboard the weather started to clear up.
By far the scariest moment kayak fishing for me. Didn’t land the Ono but I’m so thankful that Rio and I were safe 🙏🏽 And thank you to Lil, Oli, Ryan, Jac, Chels, Makoa and Doja for checking on us. Love you guys]

Spending some quality time with my favorite humans 🩵

Found some Treasure and a lot of Trash.

Had choke people combing the beach but we ended up finding some nice ones. Good thing my kids have the tako eye for finding shells 🐚 taken in Maui by @moskwa

First Fish of 2026 (2/1/26)

Haven’t fished at this spot in a while. Last few times I whitewashed here so I definitely have a love/hate relationship with this place.
Today was one of the better days.
Launched a little later but managed to catch some Opelu (Mackerel Scad)
Started trolling and hooked up to a Mahi Mahi (Dorado) but she spit the hook.
Hooked up to another Mahi and ended up landing her.
I threw on another Opelu and right away I hooked up to a small Mahi. I wanted to release this one so I decided to boost her onto the yak. Probably wasn’t the best idea because I almost got hooked. As I was taking out the hook to release the fish, I noticed that the hook went through its eye and she was bleeding really bad. I ended up keeping it because I didn’t think she’d survived.
I put on my last bait and got a strike. I started to reel in my line to check it and a Mahi wacked it again. I tried landing this one before it got tired and she ended up spitting the hook right next to the yak. Donkey move 🫡
I caught some more bait and trolled on the way in. I wasn’t paying attention, then noticed that two whales were right behind me. One went under my yak and snagged my line. I never heard my reel scream the way it did. I was about to get spooled with maybe 100 ft of line left and then it came off. So stoked! Line isn’t cheap. I’m so glad I put on that braid backing haha!
All in all it was a fun session.
Got to see some friends and enjoy the beautiful weather. The two Mahis were just bonus.

First Mission of 2026

Didn’t catch any pelagic fish but I was able to hook up two Omilus (Bluefin Trevally)
One on the @majorcraftamerica Jigpara Tungsten 100g Zebra Glow Jig.
One on my homemade damashi rig with @tylah_lures 1” Shidasa Glow Lures.

Bait was hard to find at first but I eventually caught about 10 smaller sized Opelu (Mackerel Scad)
Trolled around for a few hours but didn’t even get a strike.

Nobody caught anything mayjah but it was fun being out on the water again. Good vibes good people good fun.
