Norwood Fisher (@woodywoodstraw) is the bassist and founding member of Fishbone, the highly original LA band that blurred the lines between punk, funk, ska, reggae, soul + rock. Fishbone is one of the most influential—and impossible-to-categorize—bands to come out of the L.A. music scene in the 80’s.

After more than four decades with the band, Norwood left Fishbone in 2023 and has entered a new chapter: he’s creating new music, developing his own record label, working on the Watts Conservatory of Music, playing with his funk collective Trulio Disgracias... oh, and surfing regularly! All things that inspire love...

Thanks for talking to me Norwood!

Stephen Perkins is opening his personal drum archive. 🥁

Decades of music history. Personally played drum kits, percussion, touring gear, and artifacts connected to different chapters of Stephen’s extraordinary career — from Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros to Banyan, Infectious Grooves, and beyond.

On September 10, pieces from the collection will be offered through a special auction on ANALOGr.com, giving drummers, collectors, and fans an opportunity to own a piece of that history.

And there’s a bigger purpose behind it: a portion of the proceeds will support the Watts Conservatory of Music, where Stephen serves as a board member, teacher, and performer.

This is only the beginning. Over the coming weeks, Modern Drummer will be sharing more of the stories behind these instruments and the moments they represent.

Read the full story at the link in bio.
