Nobody tells you that being the unemployed friend means preparing answers for questions nobody asked yet.

Which slide hit hardest?
Send this to the friend who never made it awkward 🤍

Nobody tells you how much losing your job can mess with your confidence.

After 10 years in corporate, I found myself unemployed at 33, sending hundreds of job applications and wondering if I was even good at anything anymore.

At some point, I realized I wasn’t just looking for another job. I was looking for someone to tell me I was good enough.

So I stopped.

Now I’m starting over in my 30s with no clear plan, a small career crisis, and somehow more peace than I’ve felt in years.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who’s ever let a job affect their entire self-worth. by @mostly.stitious

easy peasy!

At 33, after almost 10 years in corporate and getting laid off, I’ve realized something I never expected.
I don’t necessarily want my old life back.
Don’t get me wrong. Losing your job is scary. The unemployment anxiety, the endless job applications, the rejection emails, the pressure to figure out your next career move…
But somewhere along the way, I stopped asking myself why nobody wanted to hire me and started asking what I actually wanted to do with my life.
And for the first time in years, I’m genuinely excited about the possibilities.
Maybe starting over in your 30s isn’t such a terrible thing after all.
I don’t have my career change figured out yet. I’m still working on my Plan B, exploring business ideas, and trying to build a life that doesn’t revolve around a corporate job title.
But I’m starting to believe that getting laid off might have been the push I needed to finally do something for myself.

So if you’re unemployed, recovering from a layoff, experiencing career burnout, thinking about quitting corporate, or simply feeling lost in your 30s, you’re definitely not alone.

Things nobody warned me about getting fired in my 30s:

1. You’ll suddenly have all the free time you ever wanted. And absolutely no idea how to enjoy it without feeling guilty.
2. Everyone becomes a career coach. Your aunt, your neighbor, someone who hasn’t applied for a job since 2004. Everyone has advice. Have you tried LinkedIn? No, Susan, never heard of it.
3. You’ll question your entire personality. Am I actually ambitious? Do I even like marketing? Was my whole personality just being good at answering emails?
4. Applying for jobs becomes your new unpaid job. Except this one requires personality tests, five interview rounds, and occasionally a video of yourself explaining why you’re passionate about spreadsheets.
5. You’ll feel guilty for doing anything enjoyable. A coffee at 11 AM? In this economy? While unemployed? Absolutely scandalous.
6. You’ll discover how much of your self-worth was tied to your career. Which is a lovely little identity crisis nobody included in the severance package.
7. You’ll consider approximately 47 different careers. Opening a café. Becoming a Pilates instructor. Starting a business. Moving to Italy. Becoming a dog walker. All before lunch.
8. You might realize you don’t actually want your old life back. And somehow that’s both the scariest and most exciting part.

I’m 33, spent almost ten years in corporate, got laid off, and applied for 200 jobs before deciding I might need a completely different plan.
Still working on that plan, obviously.
But at least I’ve stopped pretending I know what I’m doing.

If you’ve been fired in your 30s, please tell me what nobody warned YOU about. I need to know we’re all experiencing the same fever dream. 😂 by @mostly.stitious

am i right? by @mostly.stitious

I can confidently say the modern job market has completely lost its mind. 😂
From ridiculous interview questions to endless hiring processes, unpaid assignments and automated rejections… when did finding a job become a full-time job?
