After competing in Baku, the former Scuderia Ferrari teammates along with Leclerc’s friends Joris Trouche and Antoine Truchet boarded a flight back home to Monaco. Their intended destination was Nice Côte d’Azur Airport. However, severe storms in the French Riviera forced their plane to divert, ultimately landing “in the middle of Italy” instead.

Stranded late at night with all their luggage and facing a canceled final leg, the duo improvised by renting a van to drive the remaining two hours across the Italian countryside back to Monaco.

Charles Leclerc documented the impromptu late-night journey via a hilarious video on his Instagram Stories, which instantly went viral across the F1 community.

Part of what made the video so popular among fans was the massive contrast in their race results earlier that day. Leclerc had suffered a frustrating, difficult weekend crashing in qualifying and finishing a disappointing ninth. Conversely, Sainz was celebrating a surprise podium. Despite the polar opposite moods on track, the two seamlessly fell back into their friendly, comedic dynamic off the track.

Reflecting on the trip at a sponsor event a few days later, Sainz noted that while the travel disarray was highly frustrating at the time, it turned into an unforgettable memory. He remarked that if they had landed normally and taken a 20-minute taxi home, they would have forgotten the day entirely, but the shared van ride became “those little adventures that you will remember when you are older.”

The 2026 Dutch Grand Prix will be a historic farewell to Circuit Zandvoort, as Formula 1 prepares to leave the iconic seaside venue after this season.

For Max Verstappen, it will be his final scheduled home race at Zandvoort. The Dutchman has already won three consecutive Dutch GPs since F1 returned to the circuit in 2021, and now he has one final opportunity to equal Jim Clark's record of four victories at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen remained non-committal regarding his long-term future at Red Bull Racing during a recent interview, dismissing intense speculation by stating there is “nothing to say”. Amid rumors of discussions with other teams, the four-time world champion emphasized that while he considers Red Bull a “second family,” his primary focus remains on resolving the team’s current technical issues.

Reliability issues and unexpected crashes including two influenced by the rear wing in Austrian GP & British GP have left Red Bull behind the frontrunners, causing speculation about Verstappen fulfilling his contract that extends to 2028.

He has been linked with a move to McLaren, but insisted ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix that “there’s nothing to say” about the reports, adding: “I don’t want to say yes and no, and this and that about my future. I said already many times that if there was something new, I would say it myself.”

Verstappen instead focused on the work going on behind the scenes to ensure that problems like the one that ended his British Grand Prix won’t happen again, explaining that everyone at Red Bull’s base is collaborating to take them back to the top.

“Now we’re just looking to the future trying to fix current issues that we have on the car, but that’s an open discussion,” he said. “Yes, sometimes you get a little bit disappointed or upset after a race, but for example after Silverstone, you go home and you reset”.

Lewis Hamilton was denied a home victory by Kimi Antonelli as the Italian teenager went behind enemy lines to crash the Ferrari driver's party and win the sprint race Saturday at the British Grand Prix.

Hamilton started from pole position and kept championship leader Antonelli comfortably at bay on the short run to the opening corner at Silverstone.

He established an encouraging healthy early lead over his rival, only to be reeled in by Antonelli before the Mercedes man completed his move for the win on lap eight of 17. Antonelli crossed the line 2.7 seconds clear of Hamilton with Lando Norris third and George Russell fourth.

George Russell took a controversial pole position for the Austrian Grand Prix after Max Verstappen crashed out at the penultimate corner.

Verstappen's accident brought out the yellow flags in the final seconds, and with Charles Leclerc leading the way, his Ferrari mechanics celebrated.

But Russell surprisingly stormed through to take a second pole in as many races beating Leclerc's time by 0.236 seconds.

Lewis Hamilton finished third, a place clear of championship leader Kimi Antonelli, with Verstappen in fifth.

The streets of Monaco always seem to bring out something different in Leclerc & today’s qualifying session felt like another chapter in his complicated love story with his home race.

Ferrari looked genuinely competitive throughout the weekend, with him carrying strong pace from practice into qualifying & for a while it seemed as though pole position was within touching distance. Every lap looked like it was being driven on a knife-edge, the Monegasque throwing everything at the barriers in the way only Monaco demands.

But qualifying in Monaco is cruel-one tiny mistake can erase an entire weekend’s work. On his final Q3 run, while chasing the lap time needed to challenge for pole, Leclerc clipped the wall and damaged the car, ending his charge in dramatic fashion.

Instead of celebrating in front of his home crowd, he was left watching as Kimi Antonelli produced a stunning lap to secure pole position ahead of Max Verstappen, with Leclerc ultimately ending up fourth on the grid.

For Leclerc fans, it was the kind of session that hurts because the speed was clearly there. Monaco is his backyard, the circuit where every corner carries childhood memories, and you could see he was pushing beyond the limit trying to deliver something special.

That’s what makes him so captivating to watch-he never approaches Monaco with caution; he attacks it.
Sometimes that bravery creates magic & sometimes it leaves him staring at what could have been. Yet despite the disappointment, fourth place in Monaco is far from the end of the story. Around these narrow streets, strategy, timing, and race management can change everything.
