Design details at Guillotine that you might not have noticed...

(We're not taking it personally, btw. Your attention was probably occupied by the bread and patisserie, which, frankly, is exactly where it should be.)

Architect: Moth Architects
General Contractor; @infocusbuilderschicago
Interior Design: Siren Betty Design

The copper counter, handcrafted with love by @dollyfox_metalworks (with a big assist from @1840creative ) is the perfect backdrop for Guillotine's gorgeous pastries. And check out that LED detail at the toekick.

References to French Neoclassical romanticism in the art, detailed mouldings and limewash wall finish.

Modern industrial influences in the lighting, stainless steel and black tile.

The windows into the kitchen with LED surround. Because those bakers are too talented to be hidden in the backrooms. taken in West Town by @moth_arch

Our @viridiancabin project is making progress. Driveway was completed today. Now we can revisit the design, make final changes and work on a bid set.
Looking to get creative with the build so we can save money and still deliver a dream cottage.

How many architects does it take to fix a flat tire?
Two, it takes two.
And two dogs.

Adding value to this 1920’s courtyard building.
We took this property and through thoughtful design and experience, changed it from 24 studios and 7 one bedroom apartments into 29 one bedroom apartments and 6 studios, adding 4 garden ADU units along the way.

Touring a potential project!
Love some good old Chicago history.
And what’s better than an adaptive reuse…we love it.

I had the pleasure of moderating a Q&A with Patrick Murphey of the @chicagodpd #zoning on Thursday. Thank you @aiachicago for facilitating and @aia_sfx Chicago for leading the charge.

A five-story, 40-unit apartment development is now permitted to move forward at the former Stage 773 site along Belmont in Lake View.

The project from JAB Real Estate and Moth Architects includes all two-bedroom rental layouts, eight affordable units, ground-floor retail space, a rooftop deck, balconies, bike parking, and parking for 24 vehicles.

The development sits within walking distance of the Belmont Red/Brown/Purple Line station, multiple CTA bus routes, and a Divvy station, continuing a larger pattern of mid-rise housing growth along transit-connected North Side corridors.
