Pianist, organist, and composer Ben Clifton, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, earned his degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied with Frank Cunimundo and the late Geri Allen. He also studies with renowned jazz B3 organist Tony Monaco, who toured with Pat Martino. Shaped by Pittsburgh’s rich jazz community, Clifton brings his approach to both piano and organ, blending traditional and modern jazz with gospel warmth, classical sophistication, and contemporary textures.

Now based in Houston, Clifton has become an active presence in the city’s jazz scene, appearing at the Houston Jazz Festival, Texas Jazz Festival, and other notable events. He has performed on television and recorded internationally, while his music has been played on radio stations across the United States, Europe, and beyond. His 2025 debut album, Overlook, was praised by The Jazz Page as a “striking first statement” from a composer and bandleader with a “clear and resonant artistic vision.” It reached #4 on the NACC Top Jazz Adds Chart and appeared three times on the NACC Top 30 Jazz Chart. A new album is due in spring 2027.

For this performance at Moth, Clifton is joined by John Calderon on guitar and Sam Knight on drums.

Welcome to our latest creative endeavor: Pseudo-Cinema.

As you know, our mission at Moth is to platform and uplift art of all mediums and types. We are excited to dive into the world of film with this new concept.

Pseudo-Cinema is a monthly celebration of the weird and wild unsung movies that don’t always get the love they deserve. Hosted by Elliot Carter, each showing will be a carefully curated experience aimed at exposing underappreciated media and informing the audience. After each showing, audience members are invited to stick around, share their thoughts about the movie, and connect with one another.

This is not a “movie night” per se, but rather an exhibition-style event that fuses film consumption, education, and entertainment.

Here at Moth, we are constantly searching for new ways to engage with artists and creators of all mediums. This one’s for the visual artists. Spread the word!

Our Open Call is an opportunity for visual artists to bring new work into our space through a two-month exhibition cycle. Selected artists will have the opportunity to display their work at Moth, connect with other selected artists, and sell their work if desired.

Deadline for submission for exhibition 1 is September 27th!

Each exhibition cycle will begin with a gallery opening celebrating the selected artists and their work.

Stay tuned for our first gallery opening this October!

Tosin Aribisala is a multifaceted and award-winning musical force. As a composer, drummer, vocalist, and producer, the Nigerian-American artist’s multicultural background shapes his distinctive artistry. Tosin has performed with notable artists including Femi Kuti, Spyro Gyra, Arturo O’Farrell, Taj Mahal, Antibalas, Vieux Farka Toure, and many others. As a bandleader, Tosin’s group recently delivered a scintillating performance at the Kennedy Center. A dedicated educator, Tosin currently teaches at the British International School. His Afrobeat drumming tutorials on Drumeo have been widely viewed, drawing students and enthusiasts to his unique approach. On March 27th, 2026, Tosin’s EP, Soul Odyssey, was released through Ayanmo Records - a stunning body of work that captures the full depth and range of his musical vision.
