SPOTTED 🏍️ Yamaha YZF-R1 (2000 · RN04) ⚙️ 998 cc inline-four · 20 valves 📍 Douglas, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 The second generation of the R1 — and a landmark in Yamaha's superbike history. Introduced in 2000, the RN04 received more than 150 revisions to its engine and chassis. Yamaha focused on sharper handling, improved aerodynamics and a smoother, more linear power delivery. Its five-valve-per-cylinder engine produced 150 PS at 10,000 rpm, wrapped in the iconic aluminium Deltabox II frame. Classic red-and-white Yamaha racing looks. Over 25 years on, the original R1 spirit is still unmistakable. #YamahaR1 #RN04 #YamahaRacing #motorcyclespotters by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ Triumph Daytona 675 ⚙️ 675cc inline triple · Carl Cox & Milwaukee design 📍 Douglas, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 A custom-made Carl Cox / Milwaukee-inspired colour scheme gives this British supersport a distinctive racing look. The sport exhaust system and fine details of this particular Daytona show that the owner really thought about building a special Triumph here! Well done! Launched in 2006, the Daytona 675 changed the middleweight sportsbike formula with its characterful three-cylinder engine, razor-sharp handling and compact chassis. It delivered the punch of a twin with the revving character of an inline-four — and a soundtrack all of its own. Glen Richards took Triumph to its first British Supersport Championship title of the Hinckley era that year. A proper benchmark of its generation. Still one of the most charismatic 675s ever built. #TriumphDaytona675 #CarlCox #BritishMotorcycles #motorcyclespotters by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ Yamaha YZF-R1 60th Anniversary ⚙️ 998 cc Crossplane inline-four · My absolute favorite color scheme 📍 Douglas, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 Kenny Roberts‘ legendary yellow-and-black Speed Block design on one of Yamaha’s most iconic superbikes. The 2016 60th Anniversary R1 celebrated 60 years of Yamaha Motor with its historic racing colours, bronze wheels and Akrapovič exhaust. Underneath, the RN32 generation brought MotoGP-inspired engineering to the road: a crossplane crankshaft, titanium connecting rods and a six-axis IMU. A tribute to Yamaha’s racing heritage — and one of my all-time favourite R1 designs. #YamahaR1 #KennyRoberts #60thAnniversary #motorcyclespotters by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ Velocette Venom Thruxton 500 ⚙️ 499 cc OHV single from the 60s 📍 Douglas City Centre, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 What a rare machnine! This is Velocette’s ultimate performance concept. A British racing legend born from the factory’s success at the Thruxton 500-mile race in 1964. Produced between 1965 and 1970, only around 1,108 Thruxtons were built before Velocette closed in 1971. Its high-camshaft OHV single-cylinder engine, four-speed gearbox and unmistakable racing character made it one of the most sophisticated British performance bikes of its era. Check out how the two Hondas in the background are jealousy looking at the Velocette 😄 The engineering was just as remarkable: Velocette pioneered innovations such as foot-operated gear changes and rear suspension decades ahead of their time. A rare piece of British motorcycle history — spotted in the streets of Douglas. Please share additional information on this motorcycle if you have specific Velocette expert knowledge. #Velocette #VelocetteThruxton #BritishMotorcycles #motorcyclespotters by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ Suzuki Hayabusa Gen 3 in gold-copper-black ⚙️ 1,340 cc inline-four 📍 Victory Café, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 How to travel fast and comfortable while driving a legend in a new beautiful color scheme? Right! Get a black and gold-copper Hayabusa, straight from the factory, with a rear top case instead of conventional side panniers. For me, this Hayabusa wears the most beautiful color combination of the Gen 3 models. Great that its having the rather rare Yoshimura exhaust system mounted. Did not see this anywhere before. Hayabusas were and still are the perfect blend of hypersport attitude and long-distance practicality. I love that the owner is so confident and just adds a top case to his machine: practical use > clean profile ✌️ Check out how all the sport bikes on this photo are proudly wearing their top cases 😂👌 Great work, guys! The third-generation Hayabusa combines its legendary aerodynamic silhouette with modern electronics, ride modes and launch control. Its 190 PS engine delivers effortless high-speed touring while retaining the unmistakable Hayabusa presence. A superbike icon with a practical top case twist. #SuzukiHayabusa #Hayabusa #Hyperbike #motorcyclespotters by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ Honda CBX1000 ⚙️ 1,047 cc inline-six · the legendary F1 sound 📍 Victory Café, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 Six cylinders. Six headers. One motorcycle standing there alone in the middle of nowhere. A sound like a vintage Formula 1 car on two wheels. With a straight-through exhaust, CBX are able to deliver an especially raw, high-revving scream. From my point of view: the best motorcycle sound ever! Launched in 1978, Honda’s engineering masterpiece packed a DOHC, 24-valve six-cylinder engine into a road bike — an extraordinary achievement for its time. With over 100hp the CBX led to the first power limitation thoughts of the big motorcycle manufacturer. Back in the time, gentlemen agreements where made to limit engines to 100hp for a certain period of time. The rest is history. And the best part? These engines have proved remarkably durable, with well-maintained examples covering easy over 100,000 km. Jürgen Hereth from Nürnberg, Germany, drove over 1,000,000 km with his Honda CBX ! Today the CBX remains a mechanical legend. #HondaCBX1000 #InlineSix #ClassicHonda #motorcyclespotters by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ 3× BMW M 1000 XR ⚙️ 999 cc inline-four · threesome in carbon 📍 Mountain Course, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 First I thought about being drunken. Then I realized: Three machines. One formation of @bmwmotorrad Aggressive winglets, sharp LED headlights, signature M colours and carbon-fibre details give the M 1000 XR the look of a stealth fighter on two wheels. Its aerodynamic design combines striking looks with a super strong >200hp engine put into one unique „touring“ motorcycle. Powered by a ShiftCam inline-four and capable of exceeding 275 km/h, this is a high-performance motorcycle without compromise. Fully equipped: approximately €35,000 each. Three bikes, a total value of around €105,000 (!!!). That’s one serious expensive squadron breaking the standard motorcycle categories into pieces by creating its own category: Hyper Crossover #BMWM1000XR #BMWMotorrad #MPower #motorcyclespotters by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ Yamaha XJ900 F + Cobra GT sidecar ⚙️ 891 cc air-cooled inline-four 📍 Victory Café, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 One of the most realiable machines ever made (and pretty easy to afford with little money) combined with a sidecar! Sometimes there are pretty fascinating finds you never expected to see. This Yamaha XJ900 paired with a Cobra GT sidecar is a perfect example. The angular, enclosed sidecar looks like something straight out of an experimental design studio, giving this classic Japanese sport tourer a completely different personality. Introduced in 1983, the XJ900 combined an air-cooled, DOHC four-cylinder engine with shaft drive — a practical, durable setup that made it a popular choice for long-distance riding. The later 891 cc versions retained that formula, delivering smooth four-cylinder power without the maintenance of a chain final drive. XJ 900‘s are legendary for collecting incredible high numbers of kilometers without any problems. These are motorcycles that are not stored but used all over the globe to drive, drive, drive! And that’s what makes this combination so interesting: a proven Japanese touring motorcycle transformed into a distinctive three-wheeled machine (the first one I saw so far!) spotted at one of the most iconic meeting points for motorcyclists on the Isle of Man. #YamahaXJ900 #Sidecar #ClassicMotorcycles #motorcyclespotters by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ Honda RVF750R RC45 ⚙️ 749 cc V4 · A-once-in-a-lifetime-unicorn 📍 Victory Café, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 This motorcycle is rare and a true legend: The Honda RC45. To spot one at the Victory Café, surrounded by the roads and mountains have shaped motorcycle racing history, feels almost unreal. She was standing there without like any other „normal“ motorcycle. Not surrounded by people, only enjoying the view. Surreal! This is not just another ‚90s superbike — it’s a road-legal homologation special, born from Honda’s ambition to conquer the World Superbike Championship. Launched in 1994 as the successor to the legendary RC30 (please check out one of my first posts for the legendary Rothmans version I‘ve spotted in the streets of Liverpool), the RC45 brought a 90-degree V4 with gear-driven cams, titanium connecting rods, PGM-FI electronic fuel injection and a single-sided Pro-Arm swingarm. Honda built a machine that brought genuine factory-racing technology to the road. Its racing legacy includes John Kocinski’s 1997 World Superbike Championship title. With production numbers exceptionally low, the RC45 has become one of the most coveted Japanese superbikes of its era. Spotting this motorcycle in a museum is not easy. Seeing one that is driven through rainy weather on the holy ground of the Mountain Course is special. Finding one at the Victory Café on the Isle of Man makes it feel like a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. Thanks to the owner from Switzerland for collecting kilometers with this gem instead of increasing this bike‘s value by putting her away from public into a collection hall! For those who know, this is more than a motorcycle. It’s a piece of Honda racing history. #HondaRC45 #RVF750R #HondaRacing #motorcyclespotters by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ Kawasaki ZXR750 ⚙️ 748 cc inline-four · pink and purple for the 90s 📍 Victory Café, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 Purple, black and fluorescent pink — a bold colour combination that makes this Kawasaki stand out even among the superbikes gathered on the Isle of Man. For me these 750 Kawa designs and headlights are the most beautiful ever made. My all time favorite. Launched in 1989, the ZXR750 was Kawasaki’s road-going weapon in the competitive 750 cc superbike class. Its aluminium twin-spar frame, liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine and twin-headlight fairing embodied the golden era of Japanese sportbikes. The ZXR750 evolved through several generations, with the H series introduced in 1989, the J series in 1991 and the L series in 1993. Each brought engineering refinements aimed at improving performance and handling. @kawasaki_motorcycles are there any plans bringing a similar color scheme or round headlights into the market? I would say that heritage works not only for naked bikes. Please bring a neo classic sportsbike! This here is a fantastic example of the unmistakable styling of late-80s and early-90s superbikes. #KawasakiZXR750 #ClassicSuperbike #90sMotorcycles #motorcyclespotters by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello ⚙️ 1,042 cc V-twin 📍 Victory Café, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 I am personally not the lover of modern touring motorcycles but this green and gold give this V100 Mandello a distinctive Italian character, blending classic Moto Guzzi heritage with modern sport-touring design. Take a look how the golden color of the wheels, engine, exhaust manifold, model plate and Moto Guzzi sign are aligned 🤩! 10/10 for the color design of a stock Guzzi from the factory! Its liquid-cooled, 90-degree transverse V-twin is a major milestone for the brand, introducing liquid cooling and four-valve heads to a new generation of Moto Guzzi road bikes. It works for decades as an air and oil version and now the same concept does ist job as a water-cooled version. Love it! The shaft drive preserves a traditional Guzzi characteristic, while the compact engine layout keeps the bike visually unmistakable. The V100 also introduced adaptive aerodynamics: electrically controlled deflectors adjust their position according to riding conditions to help reduce wind pressure on the rider. From my point of view, more show than value but still very Italian 😄👍. Add a single-sided swingarm, a six-speed gearbox and modern electronics, and you get a machine that bridges heritage and innovation. #MotoGuzzi #V100Mandello #motorcyclespotters #IsleOfMan by @motorcyclespotters
SPOTTED 🏍️ Triumph Thruxton R TFC ⚙️ 1,200 cc parallel-twin 📍 Victory Café, Isle of Man 🇮🇲 Black carbon fibre, subtle gold pinstriping, Öhlins suspension and a beautifully sculpted café racer fairing. For me, this is the ultimate Thruxton spec: understated, purposeful and beautifully detailed. The TFC (Triumph Factory Custom) takes the Thruxton R to another level. Its upgraded engine features high-compression pistons, revised ports and cam profiles, delivering 10 PS more power. Lightweight components and extensive carbon-fibre bodywork reduce weight by 5 kg. The hardware is equally serious: fully adjustable Öhlins NIX30 forks, Brembo M4.34 monobloc brakes, Metzeler Racetec RR tyres and a bespoke titanium Vance & Hines exhaust. Three riding modes also adjust throttle response, ABS and traction control. Only 750 examples were produced worldwide, making this more than a styling package — it's a rare factory-built performance café racer. UPDATE: A viewer correctly identified this as the Thruxton TFC rather than a standard Thruxton R. Another technical detail worth highlighting is its torque-assist clutch, designed to reduce lever effort. It isn't a conventional slipper clutch, but the TFC also benefits from upgraded engine internals, revised electronics and premium race-spec running gear. Thanks @puko.moto for the correction! #TriumphThruxton #CafeRacer #IsleOfMan #motorcyclespotter by @motorcyclespotters
