Mountain’s Montana team completed the replacement of four butane storage vessels at the PAR Montana refinery in Billings. The year-and-a-half project required replacing each tank individually, with months between lifts while the new vessels became operational. Moving a 150,000-pound tank around live refinery equipment took careful planning and plenty of crane power. A Liebherr LTM 1750-9.1 provided the reach and capacity needed to take the long way around before setting the vessel onto Goldhofer trailers for transport through the refinery. At the laydown area, a Link-Belt ATC-3275 and Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 teamed up for a tandem lift, each handling approximately half the load. The trailers then pulled clear before the tank was lowered onto mats. Montana just got a little more Mountain!

We officially cut the ribbon on our new Billings, Montana facility! Sitting on six acres, the 9,000-square-foot building gives our Montana team plenty of room for cranes, equipment and continued growth.

With a new shop, expanded yard space and a place to escape those brutal Montana winters, our crew is ready for whatever comes next!

One carefully planned lift at a time, our crew set 12 pre-assembled modular units that will become the living quarters of a new fire station.
Using our Liebherr LTM 1230, the team handled units weighing up to 35,000 pounds at a 78-foot radius. With electrical, plumbing, HVAC, insulation and drywall already installed, each pick required precision, careful rigging and a close eye on the weather.

When you’re building a wind farm, wind is kind of the point… until you’re trying to fly a blade hundreds of feet in the air.

Mountain recently completed the final turbine on the 19-tower Vestas V136 MulQueeney Wind Project in California. With turbines reaching approximately 261 feet to the top flange, each blade was individually lifted and precisely positioned using a single-blade installation method.

Between challenging terrain, unpredictable winds and even the occasional rattlesnake 🐍, our crews stayed flexible and kept the project moving.

At peak activity, 110–120 people were working across the site, including Mountain crews and local craft labor. After months of planning, coordination and countless lifts, seeing those final blades go into place was a milestone worth celebrating. #windturbine #liebherrusa #crawlercranes #allterrainctanes #mountaincrane by @mountaincrane
