Merino wool is almost twice as expensive as other types of wool.

And that’s because it’s softer and finer yet also more durable and adaptable than other wools.

The high price of Merino wool helps keep the value of Merino sheep high too.

Today, fortunately for you and unfortunately for these high-end sheep…

…Our Merino Action Socks are just $4.

Without a doubt, there’s going to be some fallout from selling off our Merino socks for cheap.

There may even be some BAAAAAAD Blood between the sheep and us for a while. by @mountainstandard

Starting today, EVERYTHING remaining on our site is available to you at LOWER-THAN-COST.

Down insulators. Action Socks. Mountain Tech Fleece. Hiking Shorts. All lower than cost.

What’s so crazy about this moment is that Mountain Standard wear is designed by specialists who have revolutionized the outdoor industry.

If I were to list the names of the companies our designers have created for and supplied with outdoor and activewear, well...

… that list is a who’s who of goliaths and innovators in the outdoor industry.

And what sets Mountain Stardandard wear apart is it’s our “design passion project.”

It is our special space where we take the techniques we’ve perfected while designing for billion-dollar brands...

… then we put our own spin on things and take innovation a step further.

But because Mountain Standard isn’t hamstrung by corporate agreements or MSRPs or anything like that... we get to make our own RULES.

Which means we can do crazy stuff like…

Have a LOWER-THAN-COST Warehouse Sale.

All right, this is where I (your mostly friendly and sometimes humble Mountain Standard Marketing Sage) get the F out of the way and let you enjoy the sale.

The Aurora is our women’s terry knit hoodie. It’s got all the same features as our men’s backcountry hoodie (the Alpine), like a double-lined hood, thumbhole sleeves, a kangaroo pocket, etc.

However, the Aurora has a little different style.

For starters, It’s got a cropped fit. We also added a drawcord so you can cinch your hood up all the way when you want.

Plus, the drawcord has some groovy color accents

The Aurora comes in three lively colors:

Total Eclipse (of my heart), Herb (not herbs), and Sky Blue (me away).

Right now, you can get the Aurora for 15 cents more than you’d pay for 24 $1 pony rides.

Which means you can darn near get three, (all three colors), for the full price of one…. while supplies last. by @mountainstandard

Just about every member of the MTN Standard team has at least one pup in their family.

I guess it's just part of our vibe. We’re dog lovers.

Sadly, like any big city, Boulder has a lot of rescue pups in need of help.

That’s where the good people of the Boulder Humane Society come into play.

These folks, most of whom are volunteers, help feed, nurture, and shelter Boulder’s strays until they can give them a forever home.

Getting stray pups and kittens out of the cold and into a warm place with a roof over their head is especially important this time of year as the temperatures start to drop.

So, if you’re looking for a worthy cause to throw a couple of bones to today, consider donating to the Boulder Humane Society or your local animal shelter.

One of the biggest influences in our design process is the RIMBY Standard.

RIMBY stands for Right In My Backyard.

With Boulder being a hub for mountain sports, we know that if our gear surpasses the expectations of local adventurers, it will stand up just about anywhere.

It’s kind of like that old saying…

You know…

"If you can make it in Boulder, you can make it anywhere."

All of our gear is designed and tested in and around the Rocky Mountain city.

We beat it up in the backcountry.

Then we take it for it stroll on Pearl Street.

If it performs in the high alpine and turns heads in town…

Then we know it meets the RIMBY Standard.

More importantly, we know if our gear meets our RIMBY Standard…

… then it will serve you well on all the adventures you discover in your own backyard.

It was YOUR voice and your commitment that pushed us to do better. To scrutinize everything we build. To ask ourselves, “How could we reduce the footprint on this?”

So, that’s why you’ll notice the emphasis on sustainability and durability in everything we’ve made post-pandemic.

From our Standard mid-layers and fleeces... to the reinvention of an old favorite turned new best-seller - the Merino Action Sock...to all our outerwear, you pushed us to be better! Thanks for pushing us to be our best.

As make our big pivot in 2024, sustainability, durability, and versatility will remain core tenants of our design philosophy. by @mountainstandard

The Overland is made from our hard-face MTN Tech fleece to help deflect wind, mud, taco sauce, and suds.

This crew-style sweatshirt is warm yet super lightweight.

The Overland pairs perfectly with Jeans and a trucker hat.

It also has ripstop elbow patches for extra durability… as well as a touch of class in case you’re sampling chardonnays instead of IPAs.

We have limited supply of the overland left, but if you can find one in your size, right now you can snag it for only less than $38.

What truly makes our Action Socks unique is the wool blend we use.

Without nerding out too much on sock specs… our Action Socks are interwoven with fine merino wool, nylon, and spandex.

This blend is what makes them soft, durable, and warm, yet also breathable, so your feet don’t get overheated and sweaty when you wear them. Normally, one pair of our Action Socks is $18.

But right now, during our Black Monday-through-Sunday Sale, you can get 3 pairs (all three colors) for less than $19. by @mountainstandard

Clearing the Way for Fresh Start

In 2024, Mountain Standard is making a huge pivot. But before we can make that pivot, we need to clean the slate.

So starting tomorrow, we’ll kick off our biggest Holiday Sale in years.

Thanks for supporting us and following along through the highs and lows of building Mountain Standard.

This week marks the beginning of the next chapter in our journey together.

A Letter from the founders:
Something Big is Coming...

Back in late 2019, Mountain Standard was really humming. We had even opened a retail store on Pearl Street near our design office.

But then…

… As the calendar turned from 2019 to 2020, like a drag racer smashing into a brick wall… we ran head-on into The Pandemic.

The truth was, the shutdown couldn’t have come at a worse time for Mountain Standard. It took our legs right out from under us.

Eventually, many, many months later, the world started up again. And we were able to get some of the gear our designers poured their hearts and souls into in production.

But our entire operating schedule was shot. Fall lines showed up in December. Summer lines in September. It was a mess.

This year, it became apparent we weren't on pace to catch up. So we had to face a hard truth.

The best way to hit the reset button is with a fresh start.

More news on what this Fresh Start means in our next post.

Power On,
