#UMSV is thrilled to announce the launch of the College of Tech and Trade this Fall—bridging career and technical education with the power of a liberal arts degree. In partnership with nationally recognized industry leaders, including @greatpointstudios and Apex Technical School, the College of Tech and Trade at #UMSV will offer three associate degree pathways in:

⚡ Skilled Trades
🩺 Allied Health

Apex Technical school is proud to partner with the @mountstvincent, bringing hands-on trades training to collegiate education 🎓

This first-of-its-kind higher education model gives students more flexibility than ever to combine hands-on workforce training with a college education.

Apex students will now have a direct path to continue their education at UMSV, while UMSV students gain access to Apex’s industry-recognized training while pursuing their degree!

For over six decades, Apex has trained tens of thousands of new Yorkers in electrical work, plumbing, HVAC and more. By bridging the gap between skilled trades and higher education, students can now graduate with both a diploma and the workforce training employers value.

As we continue celebrating the Class of 2026, we’re proud to spotlight Gabe DelaSerna ’26, a Business Administration major whose Mount journey has been shaped by leadership, faith, service, and opportunity.

From serving as an Orientation Leader and supporting campus life through the Step Team Executive Board, SAMAHAN, and the Campus Activities Board, to participating in Campus Ministry and attending World Youth Day in Portugal, Gabe has embraced every opportunity the Mount has to offer. With the support of scholarships and generous donors, he has also gained valuable professional experience through an internship with Fox 5 NY.

After graduation, Gabe hopes to build a career in human resources or education, continuing his passion for serving and uplifting others.

With homelessness and housing insecurity on the rise among college students, the University of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale partners with the nonprofit Depaul USA and Sisters of Charity to provide Dax House, where students live for $250 per month and receive critical support to stay in school.

For UMSV leaders, Dax House is “completely and utterly tied into the mission” of compassion for those in need and promoting upward mobility, said Gabrielle Occhiogrosso, vice provost and dean of the undergraduate college.
