I have a soft corner for sarees that carry the soul of a plac and this Assam silk from @suidhaga_a_weaving_saga instantly felt like one of those pieces.

The delicate motifs, the warmth of the weave, the quiet elegance reminds me why I keep coming back to handwoven sarees that tell stories without trying too hard.

Maa Aaschen — It’s Not Just a Festival, It’s an Emotion. ❤️

There is a time of the year when Bengal begins to feel different. The air carries the fragrance of shiuli flowers, the rhythm of dhaak fills the streets, and the city slowly dresses itself in lights, laughter, and love.

But somewhere, beyond all the pandals and celebrations, there is a story much deeper than a festival.

It is the story of a daughter coming home.

In Bengali tradition, Maa Durga is not just a goddess who arrives to bless her devotees. She is Uma a daughter returning to her baper bari (her parents’ home) bringing with her the warmth of belonging, the joy of reunion, and the bittersweet beauty of a few precious days together.

And perhaps that is why Durga Pujo feels so personal to every Bengali heart.

It feels like waiting for a daughter to return after a long year. Like a mother preparing her home, a father waiting with quiet happiness, and a family counting the days until they can be together again.

For five days, Bengal becomes her home. The streets become a celebration, every dhaak beat becomes a heartbeat, and every “Asche bochor abar hobe” carries the ache of a goodbye that comes too soon.

Because when Maa arrives, she doesn’t just bring divinity into our lives. She brings us closer to our roots, our families, our childhood memories, and everything that makes Bengal feel like home.

And when she leaves, we don’t simply bid farewell to a goddess. We watch a daughter return to her own home, promising ourselves that we will wait for her all over again.

You know that feeling when Durga Pujo is around the corner and the first thing on your mind is… _এবার পুজোয় কোন শাড়িটা পরবো?

The dhaak, the pandal hopping, anjali in the morning, adda with your people and obviously, getting that perfect saree look… uff, this is what being a Bengali feels like! 🪷✨

As children, Baba would wake us up before dawn every year, and we would listen to Mahishasura Mardini on the radio, wrapped in the magic of that early morning.

Today, we’ve grown up, life has changed, but the moment this day arrives, we’re children again in our hearts… remembering those mornings, Baba’s voice, and the warmth of a tradition that became a part of our soul.
