I've been passing through Sahakar Nagar a lot these days as we travel to and from the hospice to visit my father-in-law. This particular stretch near the railway parallel road always caught my eye for its verdant greenery, tall avenue trees and a variety of flowering plants. This morning, on a whim, I chose to get here for my early morning walk and was amply rewarded. I'll stop my chatter and let my reel do the rest of the talking. 😁

Thanks so much Nayana and Jay for so generously giving me your precious time. The walk around GKVK was undoubtedly beautiful. I know, we've barely scratched the surface. This verdant campus is vast and there's soo much to explore and discover. One visit definitely does no justice to the abundance of natural beauty out there. I do hope I get to go back again and again...
Today's walk was more of catching up and less of photography, but I still managed to collect some pictures and video clips that I've put them together and made into this reel.

The Colivlle's glory (Colvillea racemosa);trees at Cubbon Park are in bloom !

We had just one of these trees at the Botanical garden in Dharwad and I used to wait excitedly for it to bloom every year. Here in Bengaluru, we have a few of these at Cubbon Park and some at Lalbagh. I've spotted a few here and there in residential communities too.
They are all pretty tall trees and the flowers are right up there. Each time I've spotted one in bloom, I've had to be satisfied with close ups of the fallen flowers. Well, even those are beautiful, right ?

Monica Aunty's pretty little garden.
Monica aunty, one of my favourite aunt's in the extended family. We shared and still do share a common love for gardening, sewing, DIY projects and all things aesthetic. She always has a passion for gardening and had the inherent skill to convert even a handkerchief-sized piece of barren earth into a thriving garden. Her beautiful little garden in their old home was more than testimony to her 'green thumb'. And I have memories of sharing and exchanging plant cuttings, saplings and seeds with her.

When they shifted into their new home (almost 30 years back) I was excited for her and waited eagerly for her to convert this new yard-space into her signature garden. And as hoped, within a year every possible space in the front yard, the verandah, the narrow spaces on either side of the house and the small backyard were filled with greenery and colourful flowering plants. There were creepers rambling all over the simple yet elegant facade of their home. The living room has some strategically placed elegant indoor plants that were the perfect foil to her well-done up (and most of the times DIY projects) interiors.

I'm so glad I got the opportunity to spend some time with her and in her garden at Dharwad, this time. Though she was in the middle of some heavy-duty renovation work, she'd still managed to give her garden its fair share of love and attention. May the forces of nature bless you all the more abundantly dear aunty. I do hope I get to spend more time and capture better pictures of her garden the next time I'm there.

'Tuesday market' at the colourful and vibrant kayipalle pyati/vegetable bazaar at my native place, Dharwad.
I have loads and loads of beautiful memories of my shopping episodes in this quaint little market, especially the ones with granny back in the early 80s. I was lucky to be there a few days back. A lot has changed but a lot is also still the same.
I was so tempted to pick up all of the super fresh, flavoursome, naati/local vegetables to bring here to Bengaluru, but I resisted my temptation. I'll hopefully bring them the next time I'm there.

Though the place we stayed at want great, the early morning walks around the property (at Kondaskoppa, Belgaum)were beautiful. There was enough and more of nature's bounty to explore and discover.
