POV: You found Taiwanese night market energy in Richmond Hill 🇹🇼This is what a summer 台式熱炒 tai-shi re chao meal looks like. We came here specifically for the Herbal Lamb Pot 砂鍋羊肉爐, lamb slow-simmered with Chinese herbs in a claypot. In Taiwan, hot pot is meant for sharing. You sit around one bubbling pot for hours with friends. Then come the night market snacks: Kara Fried Chicken 鹽酥雞, Crispy Baby Shrimp, and golden Fried Tofu. This combo of hot pot + 小菜 xiao cai is how Taiwanese people eat. Loud, casual, and meant for groups. And because it’s summer, you finish with Strawberry Bingsu 剉冰 with caramel jelly on top. Four Four South Village is a Taiwanese/Sichuan spot in Toronto worth knowing. It is at Yonge and College, which is walking distance for both TMU and UofT students. I went to try their new dishes and here’s what stood out:1. Boiled Fish in Chili Oil: Silky fish in a fiery, Sichuan peppercorn broth. The definition of mala. (Almost my favourite!)2. Sliced Beef in Sauerkraut Broth: Tangy, fermented, and cuts through the heat perfectly. 3. Double Cooked Pork: Crispy fat, savory bean paste, and Chinese vegetables. Texture 10/10.4. Signature Eggplant: Flash-fried then tossed in sweet-spicy soy. 5. Charred Cabbage: The crisp, clean bite you need between numbing dishes.It’s all cooked over blistering heat for that real wok hei flavor. This is what breakfast looks like at @Didi.Midland and I am obsessed. Lala Spicy Lab across from UofT just dropped $9.99 summer bowls and they are SO filling!Then there’s the dessert. That gigantic parfait is probably the best summer treat around. Recently, I tried Thai Massage for the first time at @orachonthaimassageandwellness in Toronto. It was very good for my stiff back and the herbal balms used were so soothing and relaxing. Thai Massage is an ancient technique used in Thai medicine for improving circulation, reducing aches and pain, and lowering cortisol. At Orachon, it is performed by Thai Massage Masters who have clocked hundreds of hours in training. In fact, Orachon, herself, is also a teacher of Thai massage! I left my massage feeling extremely relaxed. Would definitely come back for another session! by @moussetaco
