If your cross steps feel unstable, try these 3 small details.

1. USE YOUR INSIDE RAIL:
Think of it like the board is “locking in” under you. When you apply pressure to your inside rail, it gives you control and allows you to move along the board with confidence and flow.
The moment you release that pressure, the board starts to lose its line and starts to go down to the bottom of the wave

2. KEEP YOUR ARMA LOW: Your arms are a key connection to the board, one on each rail, helping you stay balanced and aligned✨
Keeping them low helps you stay stable, centered, and in control.

3. KEEP YOUR KNEES SLIGHTLY BENT .
A lot of surfers try to cross-step with straight or locked legs, but this makes it really hard to stay balanced and keep your weight centered on the board.
Your knees should never feel stiff or fully extended. Instead, they should stay slightly bent, and ready to absorb movement.

Fix these and your cross-step will instantly feel smoother and more natural 🌊🏄‍♂️💅🏼
Save this and test it in your next session.

drop your thoughtss 👀👇🏾

Meet Kshisya! These waves are 2 days apart.
First Longboarding retreat with us ❤️

This is what understanding, feeling and embodying can look like!

We don’t necessarily need years and hundreds of sessions to improve. Two days can be enough to see a difference. When you understand what you need to change, you can finally work on the right thing

Seeing this kind of change honestly fills our hearts❤️ this is why we do what we do ! So that you enjoy surfing more ✨

@kshisya 👏🏼👏🏼 we already miss you :)

Not every trip is about chasing perfect waves.

Sometimes it’s about the people you meet, the stories you share, and the places that stay with you long after you’ve left.

Do you ever feel like you lose control right when the wave starts to lift you?

Using knee pressure can save you countless waves on your longboard.

Sometimes you're a little late catching the wave, the takeoff is steeper than expected, or you simply want a bit more control.

That's when applying pressure through your knees into the board can make all the difference.

It helps you:

-Avoid nose-diving.
-Engage your inside rail sooner.
-Stay in control while the wave picks you up.

To do this, engage your core and press your knees into the board as if you're holding a plank or a crawling position. Once the board feels stable and under control, you can stand up.

From this position, your knees create leverage over the tail while keeping the rail engaged throughout the movement. This gives you far more control over the board and allows you to make small adjustments when they matter most.

What you want to avoid is the opposite: letting your legs spread apart and collapsing into a passive cobra position with your lower back sagging. In that position, you lose stability, control, and your ability to make last-second adjustments.

Practice this technique on land before your next session.

Because wasting a wave is never an option. 🌊

Backside surfing is always a challenge, which is why it’s worth coming back to the fundamentals.

🔥Try these two key points to feel more connected and sharper on your backside.

🌀Keep your hands over the rails and follow the board with them. This will improve your connection, generate more drive, and give you a solid foundation to move smoothly through the wave.

🌀Unlock your hips by extending your front leg while bending your back leg. This simple combination will make your surfing feel sharper and more precise, allowing you to place the board exactly where you want it.

Sometimes the biggest improvements come from the simplest adjustments.
And knowing the basic foundations make the game much more fun.

Your best surf training will always happen in the ocean.

Nothing replaces time in the water.
But what you do outside the water can prepare you to make the most of every session.

This flow isn’t a shortcut to better surfing.
It’s a way to build a stronger, more resilient, and better-connected body. So when the opportunity comes in the ocean, you’re ready to move with it.

A healthy core and a resilient fascial system don’t just improve performance.
They help you move with more freedom, absorb force more efficiently, and keep doing what you love for many years to come.

🌀Add this flow as a warm-up before your sessions or as part of your training routines.
🌀You can train it by time or by reps.
🌀Bring attention to your body alignment and never do it until failure.
