The biggest difference between training as a dancer and training for aesthetics? Performance comes first.

Most gym programs are designed around a Monday–Friday schedule.

But as a professional dancer on a cruise ship, my training week doesn’t exist.

Instead, my schedule revolves around the cruise itinerary.

Some cruises are 7 days.
Some are 10.
Some are 14+.

Every week looks different depending on:
• Show days
• Port days
• Rehearsals
• Work hours
• Recovery needs
• Meal timings

I can’t afford to be so sore that my performance suffers.

At the same time, I still want to:
✔️ Build and maintain strength
✔️ Improve athletic performance
✔️ Reduce injury risk
✔️ Protect my knees and joints
✔️ Stay stage-ready

That’s why my training is designed around performance demands rather than arbitrary days of the week.

Training as a dancer isn’t about doing more.

It’s about doing what serves your performance✨

One of the most valuable things strength training gave Michelle wasn’t just physical strength.

It was the mindset that comes with it.

In the gym, progress is measurable.

More reps.

Heavier sets.

Better control.

Small improvements over time.

You learn to focus on getting a little bit better every session.

That mindset doesn’t stay in the gym.

It carries into auditions.

Performances.

Classes.

Instead of chasing perfection, you focus on progress.

And that shift changes how you approach your career as a dancer.

Because long-term success in this industry isn’t just about talent.

It’s about consistently showing up and improving over time. by @moveme.mish

One of the things dancers are rarely taught is that nutrition needs to change depending on the season of your career.

-Training full time
-Auditioning
-Performing on contract

Each stage places completely different demands on your body.

When you’re training, you might be fuelling to get through full days of dance classes and gym sessions.

But when you’re performing on contract, the challenge shifts.

Your goal becomes sustaining energy throughout the entire day so you can still deliver a high-intensity performance when the curtain goes up at night.

And when you’re travelling or working on contract, you’re often not fully in control of the food that’s available to you.

That’s where understanding how to adapt your nutrition becomes incredibly important.

This is something Coach Michelle is incredibly passionate about helping dancers understand: learning how to support your body so you can perform consistently, recover well, and sustain a long career.

Because nutrition isn’t just about looking a certain way.

It’s about having the energy to do the job. taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @moveme.mish

Hi everyone, I’m Michelle and I’m so excited to officially be coaching at ADC 🤍

My journey hasn’t been a straight line. After full-time training I felt lost, I lost my routine, my confidence and didn’t know how to train for the professional world.

Finding ADC changed everything for me. I learned how to train like a dancer in the gym, how important nutrition and mindset are, and how to structure my life as a working dancer.

Within 5 months, I booked my first international contract, and after two contracts onboard, I knew I wanted to help other dancers achieve their goals too.

Now, as a coach, my goal is to help dancers become strong, confident, and ready for the professional industry.

If you’re a dancer with big goals, I would love to work with you 🤍 by @moveme.mish

🎉 Big news for ADC 🎉

Please welcome Coach Michelle to the team.

Michelle’s journey with Athletic Dance Company actually started as a client.

She was one of the very first dancers to join ADC, and her work ethic stood out immediately. Within 5 months, she booked her dream contract with Norwegian Cruise Line.

Since then she has completed two cruise ship contracts with NCL, alongside an extensive performing career in Melbourne.

But what makes Michelle such a powerful coach isn’t just her professional experience. It’s that she understands exactly what many dancers are going through.

She struggled with self-belief and body confidence earlier in her career.. something so many dancers quietly deal with. Through training, mindset work, and consistency, she completely transformed the way she approaches dance and performance.

Now Michelle is a Personal Trainer, and she’s joining the ADC coaching team to help guide the next generation of dancers.

Having experienced ADC as both a client and a professional, she knows exactly what dancers need when they’re serious about their careers.

Michelle will be taking dancers in our next Elite Dancer Blueprint intake starting April 6.

If you’re a dancer who’s committed, hard-working, and ready to level up your training…

Michelle is going to be an incredible coach to have in your corner.

Welcome to the team. 💪 by @moveme.mish
