🦝A Reintroduction🦝

Shoving my love of books into my training career has brought a lot of new people into my orbit so it is high time I introduced myself again!

Things to know about me:

📖I'm a bookish fitness trainer (and have some exciting booky training stuff coming in 2026)
📖I am 1000% body inclusive in all of my training. No diet culture nonsense here.
📖Born and raised in NYC. Still have no sense of direction

🩷BOOK REVIEW🩷

Have you ever considered what it would be like to try to escape your legacy as a scream queen on film just to become one in real life? WELL IT’S FREAKING TIME.

Happy pub day to this absolute gem of a book, This B Just Won’t Die by @tanya.pell !!!

Barbra is facking tired of being known as the film scream queen she was twenty years ago. It was the breakout role that engulfed her entire career, but all she has wanted since is to be taken seriously as an actress.

Now she’s forty, going through perimenopause, doing meet and greets at horror conventions for the cash, and desperate for validation. So, when a producer asks her to be part of a docuseries about prominent horror actors, she sees it as a chance for the public to see HER now instead of the scream queen she was 20 years ago. But then her fans start dying.

In the midst of aging in an industry that discards women, dealing with FACKING men, experiencing perimenopause, and trying to not lose her sh*t, Barb is shoved right back into her role as a final girl. But this time it’s for real.

I love Barb. I love how relatable she is. I love how much she loves fries. I love her satisfying character arc. Which means the one I really adore is Tanya Pell for creating this phenomenal FMC and wildly enjoyable story. This is one of those books that you pick up for the campy slasher vibes and stay for (those of course, but also) the deep commentary on how this world treats women.

This book is fun but it is also angry. It has bright pink teeth and cuts readers to the quick with how women are treated as we age. How we have to always be grateful. I tore through this book in two days because the writing is superb, the vibes are immaculate, the horror is horror-ing, and the characters are engaging AF.

It is the perfect spooky season read. The perfect vessel to talk about these deeper issues. And just perfect in general for fans of fun horror that bites back.

My verdict? Facking LOVED it.

Now go grab some fries, your pinkest outfit, and get to this scream queen workout to pay homage to the ultimate scream queen Barb.
