In a classic breathing study by Nayak et al, subjects’ noses were plugged for 240 hours forcing them to breath through their mouths. Nayak measured all their parameters & observed:
.
🌬️ Spike in stress hormones.
🌬️ Rise in blood pressure.
🌬️ Recovery plummeted.
🌬️ Sleep apnea and snoring ensued.
🌬️ Increased bacterial colonies in the airways.
🌬️ Metabolic & cognitive problems.
🌬️ Fatigue, irritation, anxiety.
🌬️ They actually got dumber.
🌬️ Spaciness, blank stares, stomach aches.
.
Upon removal of the plugs, all measures reversed.
.
👃🏽Nasal breathing makes us 16x more energetically efficient & better fat burners.
.
👃🏽 It releases nitric oxide which opens airways & blood vessels, increases blood flow to the brain, lowers cholesterol protecting us from strokes and heart attacks, & is a potent antimicrobial agent.
.
👃🏽 It improves stress management, physical & cognitive performance, creativity, & problem-solving.
.
The little things are not so little. 😉

If it were a drug, would you get a prescription? If it were an IV treatment at SOHO House, would you mainline it? If it were a powder, would you put it in your breakfast smoothie?
.
What if I told you it’s free, all-natural, & available everywhere?
.
It’s a full night’s sleep, 7-9 hours of intricately orchestrated electrochemical bliss.
.
Level up by simmering down. 😴🔥🔥

This One. My Heart. My World. My first and last thought of every day. Happy Birthday, Rocky! I love you! ❤️🥳 by @movementmattersvt

We recently learned that food donations typically decrease in the summer months, and food insecurity has been at an all-time high even BEFORE this past week’s flooding. The floods have further intensified this issue.
.
We are collecting non-perishables and feminine hygiene products to try to help.
.
@somavermont & @movementmattersvt are partnering with @lululemon to hold a raffle - for each item donated, please collect a raffle ticket that gives you a shot at winning a bespoke Lulu Lemon top & bottom, Triggerpoint Roller & Ball, and Foot Roller.
.
Please help if you are able.
.
Thank you for your consideration. 🙏🏽.

These guys. 👩🏽‍🔬👨🏻‍🔬🔬🧪🧫
.
Had the pleasure of exploring RockTape’s FMT RockPods 🐙🐙🐙 Myofascial Cupping Certification Course through @pesi_inc with these two groups of Med & Movement Pros in Orland Park & Chicago, Illinois.
.
Two days of teaching & learning with these dedicated, intelligent, playful, curious humans has my heart full. ❤️🔥🌱
.
We put the fun back into movement dysfunction while looking at cupping through mechanical ⚙️, fluid dynamics 💦, biochemical 🧪, & neurosensory 📡🛰️🧠lenses.
.
We went down the 🐇🕳️ of pain science, appreciating pain’s multifactorial 🚨 & contextual 🎨nature, so that we may better help the people we serve.
.
Thank you, all, for an amazing bunch of days. I hope to see you again another time! 🤓🧠🍭.
