How old were you when you noticed this in Aladdin? I can’t believe I missed this!

Description: The Sultan in the 1992 version of Disney’s Aladdin is stacking toy figurines. Among them is The Beast from Beauty and the Beast.

The Rock is not only one of my favorite actors but probably one of my favorite people on planet Earth. But I was not prepared for Lee Lee’s reaction to seeing him play Maui in live action Moana and wondering why he sounded just like the Maui she’s grown up loving.

We went for a $5 Tuesday movie and I’m glad I didn’t splurge much more than that. I couldn’t NOT see it. Moana is one of my favorite Disney movies and thought I felt this remake was way too soon, I tried to keep my expectations low. It didn’t surpass them. I thought the actors were amazing and my favorite part of the movie for sure was seeing the Polynesian dances and any time they were on Motunui. I also appreciated a couple of new jokes they threw in. Outside of that it was kinda giving fanfic to me. I’m sorry. The shot for shot, word for word remakes just aren’t my jam and I left feeling a little disappointed. That’s also why I couldn’t stand The Lion King.

If you saw it I’d love to know your thoughts! Lee Lee still thinks you should all go see it.

Ok so I have to admit this was better than I anticipated. Four was a little disappointing but five redeemed that. Three was the best for closure. Five left the door open for more, and as annoyed as I am by the abundance of sequels and remakes, it’s also fun to binge them all right before you see the new one. Watching my kids watch these movies never gets old and it’s kinda cool that a piece of my childhood is becoming a piece of theirs.

The new conflict with tech hits SO close to home and I love that we have new inside jokes and quotes that we’ll be using from here on out.

Let us know what your thoughts are on Toy Story 5!! Are you planning to see it?

Lee Lee, age 7, on the new Netflix movie Swapped:
“It made me feel like we could all work together.” 🤍

Ummmm. Best review I’ve read all year. Forget star ratings, just tell me how a movie made you feel. Our Movie in a Minute is back 🍿 Have you seen Swapped yet? Watch it and come tell us, what did it make YOU feel?

With Zootopia 2, there are now exactly 64 Disney Animated Classics. 64. Like it was meant to be. We couldn’t NOT make a bracket. New spring break activity unlocked. We made a March Madness Disney Movie Bracket and my family of course has some STRONG, and very DIFFERENT opinions 😂

Mention “bracket” in the comments and I’ll personally DM you ours so you can fill out your own! Or check my stories 🔗 (btw Lilo & Stitch is underrated and my kids will die on that hill apparently 😂) Who are you putting in your Final Four?

These kids keep it honest. Sometimes brutally 😅. I think I was probably the biggest fan of this movie in this house. Aside from Lee Lee who gives it a million stars. I seriously think this has potential to be a fan favorite. Maybe not initially cause everyone is addicted to Disney sequels right now. But I think once I get a few watches in, this will go down as one of my favorite feel-good Pixar movies to turn on when I’m in need of a good laugh. And years from now we will all be quoting this one.

Love hearing what my kids thought. Swipe to see their Hoppers review and let us know if you’re planning to go see it, or if you did, what you all thought!

Percy Jackson Episode 2 thoughts with my girl.

Episode two really blew us out of the water (ok, pun intended). Loving all the little surprises thrown in and we can’t wait to see where it goes next.

We are gonna try to be a little faster editing these recaps in the future, we’re just giving you all time to catch up 😜 what do you think of episode 2?

Loved it!!

I never know with Disney movies these days and some sequels are overdone, but I was willing to give this one a chance and I feel like they hit it out of the park! The first movie felt ahead of its time and pushed boundaries with a powerful message. I worried how the second movie could possibly top that, but the creators managed to do it again without it feeling overly redundant or preachy.

Like the first film, older kids and adults can walk away with a deeper meaning behind the story and younger kids still get to enjoy bite sized-messages and humor for them. But don’t think it’s all silly kid jokes. The wit and one-liners kept me in stitches through the whole movie and have me dying to see it again (and we have tickets for tomorrow!). I cannot wait to hear what Ty thinks and I’ll update this review with his and Jayda’s thoughts.

If you go and see it let us know what you think and keep your eyes peeled for plenty of easter-eggs and don’t leave before the end-credit scene. I don’t want to spoil, but Lee Lee called it before the movie even started.

I’ll admit, I’ve never quite gotten full on into the Wicked hype. But Jayda and I did see the off Broadway musical last year, and I really enjoyed seeing it portrayed on the big screen. In the stage production I liked the first act, but I LOVED the second. I felt a bit of the opposite with the movie. I remember loving the duet in the stage production, however in the movie, No Good Deed is the song that gave me chills. I also don’t know what rock I’ve been sleeping under but I didn’t realize how family-friendly Wicked was given the age of the fandom. I noticed this on-screen adaptation was purposely toned down for the younger audiences who might be going to the movies to see it. However, it wasn’t the mild violence or kissing that I worried about Lee Lee seeing, but the long runtime. As much as she says she loves the finale (she is the queen of recency bias), she lost interest in this story a few times, and it was a little harder for her to understand some parts. I loved the little surprises and twists I didn’t see coming, even having seen the show.

If you have an Alamo Drafthouse near you try to see it there! It’s been my favorite spot to enjoy movies since I moved to Austin. They have special themed food for Wicked for Good and they invited us to come watch the movie and try it out. I had The Good-Wich sandwich and fries and it was SO yummy! We also got the sugar cookies and peppermint shake which were also delicious!

Let us know if you take your family to see Wicked for Good and what ya’ll think! I was today years old when I realized Wicked for Good is rated PG (and so is Wicked). But that said, there are still some things to keep in mind. Black lol and her biracial daughters taken in Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar by @movienightjournal

I obviously have very strong opinions about a kids movie 😅

The OG is modern, stunning and perfect as is. In my opinion we do not need a copy/paste with slightly different animation CGI styles. It’s like seeing some kind of ABC special.

A few of yall have mentioned rumors that the time constraints had to do with booking The Rock while he could still play Maui. If that was the case the. Why not have a live action Maui prequel movie? | LOVE Mufasa and Cruella. New stories based on familiar characters.

Doing it this way feels like more of a cash grab than genuinely trying to do it justice. No need to write a new story, new songs, or a script from scratch. One of the two main castmembers isn’t even new.

It’s way too soon. Lee Lee was watching the trailer like “wait what? Is this new?” Like can our kids we took to see this at least graduate high school first?

I imagine they’re hoping for the same success as Lilo and Stitch but that came out 20+ years ago. And if you must redo something, there are so many other underrated movies they could redo that could feel new. Mostly cause we aren’t still singing the songs that came out last week.

I absolutely LOVE Moana. The movie has a special place in my heart and always will, but l’ve never been less excited for a Disney remake. I really hope they prove me wrong though. Of course I’ll go see it otherwise I’ll have FOMO, i hope it somehow surprises me and blows my expectations out of the water. But I’m not holding my breath.
