They met. They married. They starred in one of the most iconic 90s films ever.

🎬 Cruel Intentions (1999) brought Reese Witherspoon & Ryan Phillippe together — she was America’s sweetheart, he was the bad boy, and their on-screen chemistry spilled straight into real life.

💍 Met in March 1997 at her 21st bday!
💒 Married June 5, 1999 at Old Wide Awake Plantation, South Carolina. They year Cruel Intentions was released.
They have two children 👶 Daughter Ava (1999)
👦 Son Deacon (2003)

💔 Reese filed for divorce in 2006, citing irreconcilable differences — but the story didn’t end there.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 They’ve continued to co-parent, and over the years Ryan has occasionally shared nostalgic (and sometimes flirty 👀) throwback photos from their Cruel Intentions era.

A love story born from one of the most twisted teen dramas of the ’90s — and still one people can’t stop talking about.

BACK TO THE FUTURE!! (1985) Think your favorite movie had an easy path to the big screen? Think again!
Over 40 Hollywood studios rejected the script for being “too tame,” while Disney turned it down for being “too risqué” before it finally got greenlit!
The original time machine wasn’t
a DeLorean at all—it was a stationary refrigerator powered by plutonium and Coca-Cola, but directors worried kids would trap themselves inside. 🎬The head of Universal Pictures hated the title and tried to change it to “Spaceman from Pluto” until Steven Spielberg sent a joke memo to embarrass him out of it.
🎬Eric Stoltz filmed for six weeks as Marty McFly before being replaced by Michael J. Fox, but a split-second shot of Stoltz’s fist punching Biff is still in the final movie.
🎬Doc Brown’s loyal dog Einstein was originally written as a pet chimpanzee named Shem, until executives claimed that movies with chimps never make a profit. 🎬Michael J. Fox filmed his sitcom Family Ties by day and shot this movie until 3:30 AM every single night, surviving on under five hours of sleep.
🎬President Ronald Reagan loved
the joke about him becoming president so much that he made the theater projectionist rewind the movie to watch it again. #BackToTheFuture #80sMovies #MovieTrivia #movielover #moviefacts by @movienightsecrets

American Beauty!!! I love this movie - incredible acting and really great story🎬 (1999) Here are some more behind the scenes facts from the film: 🎬 The Origin Story
Screenwriter Alan Ball was inspired to write the film after experiencing a profound moment watching a real paper bag float in the wind by the World Trade Center Plaza. He initially planned for the story to be a stage play before adapting it into a film.
🌹 The Iconic Rose Petal Scene
The famous sequence featuring Mena Suvari covered in roses was originally supposed to feature her sitting in just a plain tub of water. To get that perfect, dreamlike quality, the scene was filmed at a speed 6 times slower than normal.
🎸 Unscripted & Improvised
Kevin Spacey completely improvised all of his hilariously chaotic actions in the car while singing along to “American Woman”.
🤰 That’s Not Who You Think It Is
Take a look at the film’s famous promotional poster featuring a hand holding a rose on a bare stomach. That torso actually belongs to actress Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), who was working as a model at the time.
🕊️ Shocked Reactions
During the tense dinner scene where Lester throws a plate of asparagus against the wall, the startled reactions from Annette Bening and Thora Birch are 100% genuine. The script originally called for him to throw it on the floor, so the actors weren’t expecting it to shatter against the wall.
📣 Pop Star Choreography
The synchronized dance routine performed by the “Spartanettes” cheerleading squad was actually choreographed by 80s pop icon and former American Idol judge, Paula Abdul.
👃 What’s That Smell?
Because real marijuana couldn’t be used on set, the production team used a prop substitute known as “honey tobacco” for all of the teenage smoking scenes.
🎭 Visual Character Arcs
Director Sam Mendes intentionally engineered the physical appearances of the two teenage girls to flip over the course of the movie. As the story progresses, Thora Birch’s character wears progressively less makeup to show her self-acceptance, while Mena Suvari’s character wears more to show her masking her insecurities. #americanbeauty #kevinspacey #90 by @movienightsecrets

🎃 Since it’s getting closer to Halloween I thought I would post one of my favs and a great nod to the 90s!! THE CRAFT🔮 Here are some WILD behind-the-scenes facts of the 1996 cult classic THE CRAFT! 🎬👇
👉 Fairuza Balk (who played Nancy) was a practicing Wiccan and actually purchased an occult shop in Los Angeles called Pan Pipes Magickal Marketplace during the production.
👉 Robin Tunney (Sarah) wore a wig the entire movie because she had completely shaved her head for her role in Empire Records!
👉 Rachel True (Rochelle) was nearly 30 years old when she played a teenager!
👉 The movie was given an R rating by the MPAA strictly for its depiction of teenage witchcraft, despite only having one “F-word” in the script!
👉 Things got spooky on set during the beach ritual scene. Rising tides, lightning, and a swarm of bats knocked out power right as Nancy yelled her lines!
👉 Over 10,000 real snakes and bugs were used for the terrifying climax of the film!
👉 The deity “Manon” was completely made up by the filmmakers so they wouldn’t offend real-life pagan groups! #thecraft #90smovies #halloweenmovies #movielover #movies by @movienightsecrets

🎬 FERRIS BUELLER BEHIND-THE-SCENES SECRETS! 🎬
The 80s classic and one my favs! Some fun facts behind the scenes on this one🎬👇
✍️ Director John Hughes wrote the entire script in just six days!
🏎️ The Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder was too expensive to wreck, so three replica cars built on Mustang chassis were used for the stunts.
📣 Ben Stein’s iconic, monotone “Bueller? ... Bueller?” roll-call lecture was completely unscripted and improvised on the spot.
💃 Matthew Broderick performed “Twist and Shout” during a real Chicago parade in front of 10,000 real-world spectators—all while recovering from a serious knee injury!
🚗 The cars’ license plates are hidden easter eggs referencing John Hughes’s other films, like The Breakfast Club and Mr. Mom.
👀 Ferris and his on-screen sister rival, Jeanie (Jennifer Grey), were actually secretly dating in real life during filming! #80smovies #moviefacts #movielover #ferrisbueller #movies by @movienightsecrets

🎬 Behind the Scenes: Marlon Brando’s Secret Technique in The Godfather! 🤫👇
During the filming of the 1972 masterpiece, Marlon Brando famously read his lines from cue cards instead of memorizing them! Do you think it made his performance better ? Comment below! Here is how—and why—he pulled off his Oscar-winning performance as Don Vito Corleone:
👀 Hidden in Plain Sight | The crew had to get incredibly creative to keep the script out of the camera’s view. They taped dialogue onto lampshades, trees, and inside desk drawers.
👥 Human Placards | Brando frequently had cue cards pinned right to the chests of his co-stars! Robert Duvall and Al Pacino often stood with placards taped to them whenever their backs were turned to the camera.
🎭 The Method to the Madness | While some called it laziness, Brando defended it as a brilliant Method acting technique. He believed memorized lines sounded rehearsed and artificial. Reading them fresh allowed him to hesitate naturally, making it feel like he was searching for the words in real-time.
📝 Last-Minute Changes | Practically speaking, The Godfather underwent constant script rewrites. New pages were often handed out right after lunch, making the cue cards essential for keeping up with the rapid changes. #marlonbrando #thegodfather #70smovies #moviefacts #movielover by @movienightsecrets

🎬 Think you know Pulp Fiction (1994) Here are the wildest behind-the-scenes secrets you probably missed! 👇What a movie!!
• 🤯 The Daniel Day-Lewis Twist: Before John Travolta got the part, method-acting legend Daniel Day-Lewis actively campaigned to play Vincent Vega. Producer Harvey Weinstein begged for him, but Tarantino stubbornly refused to budge.
• 💉 The Adrenaline Shot: The iconic needle-in-the-chest scene was actually filmed completely in reverse! John Travolta pulled the needle out of a fake chest, and the footage was played backward.
• 🚗 The Stolen Ride: Vincent’s cherry-red 1964 Chevelle Malibu belonged to Quentin Tarantino. It was stolen off the set during filming and stayed missing for nearly 20 years before police finally tracked it down!
• 💼 The Glowing Briefcase: No, it wasn’t a soul inside. The famous golden glow was just a standard orange lightbulb hooked up to a battery pack inside the case.
• ⏱️ The Two-Day Blitz: Harvey Keitel was on a crazy tight schedule—he managed to shoot every single one of his legendary scenes as Winston “The Wolf” Wolf in just 48 hours.
• 💳 The “Bad Motherfucker” Wallet: That infamous wallet actually belonged to Tarantino himself, serving as a direct nod to the 1971 classic movie Shaft. #pulpfiction #tarantino #90smovies #moviefacts #movielover by @movienightsecrets

🎬 Behind-the-Scenes Secrets from Stepmom (1998) 🍿✨
Some behind the scenes facts from this very special movie!
🕵️‍♀️ The “Feud” Was Fake: Rumors swirled that Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon hated each other on set. In reality, they were close friends who explicitly looked for a script to star in together! Susan later revealed her own PR person accidentally started the rumor. 🤫
🎭 Family Cameo: Susan Sarandon’s real-life daughter, Eva Amurri, actually appears in the movie! You can spot her playing the pilot/airplane in the kids’ Thanksgiving play. ✈️🍂
❤️ A Heartbreaking Dedication: Director Chris Columbus dedicated the film to his mother, Irene Columbus, who tragically passed away from cancer a year before the movie was released. 🕊️
🏥 True-to-Life Preparation: To portray her character’s cancer battle accurately, Susan Sarandon spent hours visiting hospitals and interviewing terminal cancer patients to capture the realistic physical toll of the illness. 🕊️
👠 The Pretty Woman Wink: When Isabel lets Anna try on bright lipstick, Jackie remarks that you only see that color on “working girls”—a hilarious, subtle nod to Julia Roberts’ iconic breakout role! 💄💋
🏡 The Real House: That gorgeous family home isn’t a Hollywood set! The exterior shots were filmed at a real historic estate called “Glenholme” in Upper Nyack, New York. 🌲✨

Sandra Bullock wasn’t acting in Speed—she was actually driving & crashing a bus lol 🚌 Director Jan de Bont had one major goal for the 1994 thriller: make it look 100% real. No studio lots. No green screens.🎬🤯
Here is the insane reality behind the movie:
• Real Streets: They actually drove a massive, multi-ton bus through the real, crowded streets of Los Angeles.
• Real License: Sandra Bullock had to get a legitimate Santa Monica commercial bus driver’s license just to take the wheel.
• Real Danger: While a stunt driver was hidden in the back for backup, Bullock was genuinely steering a “living projectile.” (As she called it ha!)
• Real Crashes: In her own words: “When we were smashing into things on screen, we were really smashing into those things.” 💥 crazy lolll!! #speed #90smovies #moviefacts #movielover #sandrabullock by @movienightsecrets

The brutal 21-day grind behind such a great indie masterpiece 🎬👇
Most people know that Kevin Smith made Clerks on a shoestring budget, but the actual schedule to get it made was pure madness lol
Here is how a 23-year-old convenience store clerk pulled off a cinematic miracle:
• 💰 The Budget: A tiny $27,575. Smith funded it entirely by maxing out credit cards and selling his beloved comic book collection!!
• ⏰ The Day Job: Smith worked his actual day shift at the Quick Stop from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
• 🌙 The Night Shift: Because the store had to stay open, filming could only happen while it was closed—from 11:00 PM to 5:30 AM for 21 straight days.
• 💤 The Toll: Surviving on less than 2 hours of sleep a night, Smith was so exhausted by day 21 that he kept falling asleep on the floor while directing.
• 🏪 The Cover-Up: Those closed window shutters in the movie? Not a creative choice. It was just a desperate hack to hide the fact that it was pitch black outside.
No budget. No sleep. Just pure passion. Great film! 💸🎞️ #moviefacts #clerks #90smovies #movielover #indiemovie by @movienightsecrets

EYES WIDE SHUT (1999) 🎬 The Guinness Record: Principal photography took a staggering 15 months (over 400 days on set), making it the longest continuous film shoot in history! They shot from Nov 1996 till Jan 1998! ⏱️🗽 Fake New York: Stanley Kubrick refused to fly, so the entire movie—set in Manhattan—was meticulously rebuilt on soundstages in England. Crew members were sent to NYC just to measure street signs and photograph trash cans for exact replicas! 🇬🇧🛋️ Method Living: Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman actually lived in their characters’ apartment, decorated it with their personal items, and slept on set to stay in character. 🛌🚪 95 Takes: Kubrick’s legendary perfectionism meant Tom Cruise had to shoot a simple scene of walking through a doorway 95 times before the director was satisfied! 🔄👥 Digital Censorship: To avoid an NC-17 rating in the US, Warner Bros. had to digitally add computer-generated cloaked figures to block out explicit background actions during the infamous ritual scene. 🕵️‍♂️💔 The Final Cut: Kubrick showed his finished cut to studio executives on March 1, 1999. He passed away just six days later, sparking decades of conspiracy theories about the film’s true final message. 📜 #eyeswideshut #stanleykubrick #90smovies #moviefacts #movielover by @movienightsecrets
