Back to school (kinda)! First morning at my metal working course at @morleysculpture. Been thinking about making things with my actual hands again for a long time, so instead of just talking about it endlessly, it was time to make it happen.

Was shown mig welding and plasma cutting and my efforts were valiant but terrible… but that’s kind of the point. You can’t see a thing out of the helmets?! It goes all dark when the sparks start flying?! Who knew?! It’s loud and busy and invigorating and the tutor was brilliant.

The studio is in an old Victorian Chapel on Lambeth Walk. Henry Moore donated a small sculpture to the college - which was sold at auction to raise funds to secure the lease - and it is named after him in thanks. Was worth the course fee just to get inside IMO… ✨ taken in Morley College London by @moxhamstore

The start of our 2 week end of Aug holiday began in Margate… facilitated by @louieonsea letting George play outside the front of the Turner Contemporary again and this dovetailing into a most gorgeous weekend. Knowing people who make exciting things happen for other people, usually through loads of hard work, is my very favourite thing (thanks Chris and Lena 💋). Also we love the crab museum!!! taken in Margate, Kent by @moxhamstore

Fourth year on the trot at @weoutherefest. Just read an article by @imaniamrani about how children add magic to a festival and the joy of sharing live music with them so here is us…

The kids bought a record each, saw @gilesesmith play💘, caught grasshoppers in the mornings and then fell asleep in the trolley together most nights at 9 or 10. The very very best!!!! ✨✨✨✨ taken in We Out Here Festival by @moxhamstore

Starting some very serious campaigns… 1. Supermarkets have to ensure that all hummus and taramasalata sold has an ACTUAL lid, not that thin bit of plastic you cannot get home from the picnic and 2. No one is allowed to refer to August as “late summer”. Next few weeks are PEAK SUMMER, dont you meannnnn ☀️🩷☀️🩷☀️ by @moxhamstore

I wonder when I’m older and presumably life is quieter (?!) if I’ll look back at the mad shape shifting of this time (school to work to parties to kids parties, to events to projects and other hair brained schemes etc etc) and love the quieter life or be so so sad it’s over?! A lil dump of some brilliant bits to remember including now having a 10 year old which feels cuuuteee ✨ by @moxhamstore

The most wonderful Walworth Kids Xmas Lights PV on Thursday evening, made possible by all these wonderful people (and lots not pictured)!

I don’t love hosting things because you’re always worried people won’t be able to make it, and I always have visions of standing in a room on my own… But of course that didn’t happen. In fact, we had to kick the stragglers out well past finishing time and round up all the rosé-dregs-filled glasses.

As soon as the doors opened, school children, their families, friends, neighbours, people who’d seen a flyer and were interested, and friends and partners of the project all streamed in. And as my son said: “I thought there was going to be 10 people and there was like 100!!!” Huge compliment or a burn?

It was a huge honour to put this on with my co-lead Antonio @archforkidscic and celebrate the designs of @stpeters.ce.primary school. In the pictures, you can see an ACTUAL light that Antonio bought from the Soho project (now in its fifth year), so you can all visualise the future. There are 21 of these coming to the Walworth Road in November! Who would have thought it?!

Come down to the @wthcommunity today and tomorrow and vote!

We’re so excited to reveal the jury for the Walworth Kids Xmas Lights✨✨✨✨

This group of local stalwarts, academics, creatives and architects will be selecting the final 21 children’s designs that will be transformed into full scale Christmas lights for the Walworth Road this winter.

The children have created some brilliant designs in response to the places they see and move through every day. Everyone is invited to the Private View (details below), or you can drop in over the weekend, when @ribalondon will be hosting free workshops for 5-12 years old from 2pm to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday, where children can make their own light.

Over a year in the making… and it’s finally here ✨

Join us for the Private View of an exhibition showcasing the designs created by pupils from St Peter’s Primary School, (@stpeters.ce.primary) for the inaugural Walworth Kids Xmas Lights 2026.

Come and help select the 21 designs that will be transformed into full-scale Christmas lights along the Walworth Road this winter.

🗓 Thursday 4 June, 5:30–8pm 📍 Walworth Town Hall Community Space 🎟 Open to all

Across the weekend, families can also take part in free drop-in workshops led by @ribalondon, where children can design their own illuminated mini streetlights inspired by Walworth’s architecture.

This project is co-led by Antonio Capelao (@archforkidscic) and Madeleine Moxham (@moxhamstore), delivered in partnership with @fabrixlondon and made possible with the support of @southwarkcouncil, @general.people, @walworthvillage and @ribalondon.
