I didn’t believe in destiny until traveling home to Colombia for a wedding and leaving my Green Card behind in New York last fall 🤦‍♀️ led me to meeting the love of my life (full story available upon request, it’s pretty ridiculous and hilarious).

They say it’s always darkest before the dawn and today I believe it. 2025 tested my limits in every possible way – I lost my job and every ounce of professional self-worth I’ve worked for my entire life, and 3 weeks later I thought my life had come to an end when I lost Martini 🐶 to a debilitating brain tumor.

it took me 10 consecutive years ‼️ of entering the @nyrr #UnitedNYCHalf drawing before finally getting in for this year’s race (for scale - in that same 10 years I’ve gotten into the NYC marathon through the drawing TWICE, so) and I’m happy to report that yesterday was SO WORTH the 10 year wait 🫶🍎🌉🗽🏃‍♀️🏅this course and this city are truly the magical shit dreams are made of.

💔 on May 3rd at 10:50pm, after being hospitalized for 3 days with a cluster seizure he couldn’t break, my Martini took his last breath and sprinted across the rainbow bridge to reunite with his brother Patron. Martini & Patron were so incredibly inseparable since birth and for the 11 years they lived together, so much so that if two people were walking them together and one crossed the street before the other one they would act as if they were about to never see each other again and the celebration when they reunited 1.2 seconds later would make you think they hadn’t seen each other in 10000 years, and the only silver lining to the devastation I’m feeling is knowing that they’re finally back together in Frenchie heaven. Patron took half of my heart when he left us in June, and now Martini took the other half I had left. My body will remain on this earth as a vessel of semi functioning organs, but all of my heart and soul are gone forever with Martini & Patron. I am absolutely wrecked and still haven’t learned how to live without Patron 10 months later, I don’t think I’m going to be able to do this without Martini now 😭

To the best and most loyal friend I’ve ever had, thank you for bringing joy to my life for almost 12 years. You were almost indestructible - you beat 4 cancers, I lost count of the number of surgeries you just bounced back from, and had the most blissful last 5 weeks of your life with absolutely no seizures until this brain tumor broke your winning streak and left me completely broken and empty. I love you with every single cell in my body and hope Frenchie heaven is filled with unlimited quantities of human food and tennis balls 🎾, absolutely no baths and a 24/7 service of on demand belly scratches. I told you to take me with you when it was your time to go, so let me know when my uber to the rainbow bridge 🌈 is on its way to pick me up 🐶🕊️👼🏼 taken in Rainbow Bridge by @mpelaezs

Martini, my best and only real friend (on earth, because I have Patron up in frenchie heaven too 🐶🌈). So grateful for every single day that you’re alive, I feel like the luckiest humom in the world every day that I wake up to pick up your 💩, force feed you anti-seizure meds and chemo 💊, give you all the belly scratchies and and go for leisurely strolls together.
