THINK Japanese music - jazz, soul, reggae, funk, disco and electronic. After that, expect a full night of feel-good beats nu-disco and house music and DANCING. It’s WorldPride in Amsterdam and we’re part of their magazine launch party @artotel ! Unity is something that I’m passionate about and it’s a red thread through my music and culture agency. Has it really been two weeks since our Pension Homeland takeover?! We were worried about the blistering heat however we found the coolest spot. The water, the vibration, YOU! What a joy to DJ with a view across the water and the band to be jamming with the crowd! We had a surprise guest appearance by Talulah from Berima’s single YABA and we even had a few people jump on and jam and sing. Thank you all who came - it really makes us feel joy to see so many of you dancing, meeting new people and vibrating high! Till our next event on the 24th July! Thank you! Tonight, Berima Amo is joined on stage by the wonderful Olaf Zwetsloot on alto saxophone.Olaf is an Amsterdam-based saxophonist and composer with a unique, lyrical voice. He won the Jazz Prize of the City of Dordrecht for his masterful arrangement of Thelonious Monk’s Epistrophy in 7/8 — the album that earned his band invitations to the North Sea Jazz Festival and the Bimhuis. He also leads the Olaf Zwetsloot Quartet ‘The News’, playing evocative, original modern jazz. CHECK OUT HIS GOFUNDME! Link in bio! On horns for Berima Amo tonight: the wonderful Andrius Dereviancenko.Lithuanian-born and Amsterdam-based, Andrius studied jazz saxophone at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and has graced stages including the Bimhuis and the North Sea Jazz Festival. He leads his own projects — Cocktail Party Attack and 12 Tribes of Mars — and brings a fearless, exploratory voice to everything he plays. A trumpeter trained at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Oleg moves between cool jazz, post-bop and contemporary sounds, weaving improvisation through everything he touches. WE OUTSIDE AMSTERDAMN 🥵 Berima Amo recently released his album ‘Rhythms of Love’ with ARC records and we’re inviting you to the live showcase this Friday 26 June from 18.00! We have got an outside stage on marineterrein in Amsterdam! Bring your swimwear, wear sunscreen, hydrate, put on your dancing shoes! Kids welcome! There is food and drinks at the hotel, Pension Homeland, who are collaborating with us on an amazing adventure. Arrive at 18.00 : DJ Goddess of Queens playing global grooves. 20.00-21.00 : live music from Berima Amo and band 21.-23.30 : DJ AKAGOQ and Goddess of Queens take to the decks to close the night and have some fun!
