Gen X is becoming the “sandwich generation.” If you’re like me, you’re feeling the change at both ends.

Case in point: in the past week, I’ve been balancing my father-in-law’s unscheduled hospital stay (he’s doing OK, BTW) with my son’s impending move to NYC. And I’m smack in the middle, trying to navigate the pressure from both ends while doing what I do in my day job.

That’s one reason why I brought E as my “plus one” to @fullsail Tech Tuesday. I wanted him to see what I’m doing as a PAC board member in the cybersecurity program, and how we’re preparing students to help make the digital world a little safer. We also ran around Full Sail’s backlot to see “faux Seattle,” and ran into a film crew wrapping a shoot.

So many creators in one place. Pushing the boundaries of art and science. The collision of these divergent atoms can be messy - just utter the letters “AI” and it gets different responses across our campus student body - but talking about the shift makes it all less scary.

My advice: take your kids with you to work. Especially when they’re older. It engenders a deeper sense of understanding and gives you an opportunity to share your interests - even if that includes MITRE ATT&CK frameworks.

No. Not natural. But pretty spectacular.

This is the diaphanous residue of a jellyfish cloud after a rocket launch on Monday morning from Cape Canaveral. The gases were high enough in the atmosphere to catch the sunlight over the horizon, and dense enough to project it down at an angle against the pre-dawn sky. I caught it on the tail end of my run. “Otherwordly” feels like the right descriptor. And yeah… “spooky” works, too. taken in Winter Park, Florida by @mpg_highway

I hope this isn’t the last time our little tripod flashes into the dark night, searching for the best scare zone and dodging zombies at Mel’s Die-In. But as Ethan ventures out into the vast, gray arms of Gotham, there’s a certain finality that I’m wrestling with. And a hopefulness that one ending leads to a new beginning. Until that story opens up like a vampire’s wine, we’ll treasure all the green and glowing moments along Diagon Alley, or waiting in impossibly long lines for four minutes of terror. The really scary part is not knowing what’s ahead - but the discovery is also what makes it all so joyful. Thanks @horrornightsorl for being a backdrop to our spookily beautiful life. by @mpg_highway

EVIL DEAD SLAYED!!! 🔪🎃 Congrats to @ethangarrepy for making us laugh out loud as Jake (and a few other roles) at the @drphillipsctr this weekend! It was another great show that @cflvocalarts made possible, and seeing Ethan perform with this amazing cast was a Halloween-appropriate treat. From standing in the September sunshine of glorious #amsterdam to pounding the pavement across #vondelpark (and dozens of other places in this big, beautiful world), there’s no one else I’d rather trace the steps and miles with.

Congratulations to my friend @janusboye for receiving the Jon Panella Award at the @machalliance MACH X conference this week. You continue to inspire me - and so many others - to keep moving forward. Agentic AI aside, it’s the people that make the journey worth it.

Roaming the backrooms of @orangetreeantiquesmall with @ethangarrepy and discovering some treasures. Like Roxy Music, Night Ranger, and AC/DC comfortably stacked on a random shelf, and displays that look like my grandmother’s bedroom cabinet in 1982.
