“Shoot to Document.”

A friend, a brother, and a mentor—someone who has taught me, and continues to teach me, about photography, art, and life as a whole. Words can’t fully describe the impact Quon has had on my life.
We crossed paths at a strange time. I was grieving the loss of a loved one, struggling to find motivation to even step outside. One day, I decided to head to Old Fourth Ward Skatepark and take photos just to clear my mind. As I looked through the viewfinder, I heard a voice approach me asking, “What are you shooting with?” I looked at him and thought to myself, what’s bro know about film? Little did I know, he knew everything—and would go on to teach me everything I know today.
After that brief encounter, the rest was history. Over time, I felt it was important not only to document our friendship, but also to document Quon’s journey—to capture moments that best reflected the kind of impactful individual he is.
Fast forward, and I met his son, Carson, who is a spitting image of his father. Seeing their dynamic was incredibly moving, and witnessing how passionate Quon is about setting Carson up for success made everything come full circle.
Quon’s patience and thoughtful approach to teaching, along with the genuine bond he builds, are truly inspiring. He has created a space where learning becomes both personal and profound. Through genuine connections he builds, his passion and quiet determination have reshaped how I see photography—not just as a reflection of the world, but as an art form.

“Self Portrait.”

To isolate, to be still, to sit with my thoughts without distraction. There’s something necessary about that solitude-like it’s the only place where I can begin to hear myself clearly again. l’ve been stuck in a creative rut for longer than I’d like to admit, feeling disconnected from my photography & unsure of what I’m even trying to say anymore. I find myself questioning not only what I’m making, but why I’m making it at all. What once felt instinctive now requires more patience. In those moments, it’s the smallest things that hold me together—a good book in my hands, the warmth of a cup of coffee, soft jazz playing in the background. Time slows down. The noise fades. And for a little while, everything feels still. It’s in those quiet, unnoticed moments that life feels the most real... & somehow, the most meaningful. Rather than resisting this pause, I’m learning to trust it. It’s a return to something more grounded, more intentional, & more true.
