POSTS STORIES REELS

💫Meet the Author💫

Well, it has been a while! So I figured I'd re-introduce myself.

Name's Michelle. I am a merchant sailor, airport facility gal, and mum to the greatest little bug.

I write mostly dark fantasy. Have plans for a horror, sci-fi x fantasy, and whatever else I fancy someday when I'm not busy with this trilogy. I also do illusion work, though not enough to call myself one 🙃

When I'm not reading and writing, I dabble in leather, crochet, cooking, travel, and whatever else strikes my fancy on a fine Tuesday.

Really... You should see my abandoned hobby closet. 😘

Swipe to see some of my favorite things and see how much we have in common!

I also take lots of sunset/sunrise photos. Never. Ever. Sorry.

⚔️Sonder's Song Asthetic⚔️

This series is full of mystery and dark magic. It's unconventional, toes into grimdark, but is held together by rich friendships and the characters' faith in better days.

The story is the people struggling to find their goodness amongst an evil regime.

Engaging major deadline mode 👻 ⚓️

I've been very quiet... ok, somewhat quiet about my newest project. Or, rather, sprinkling updates and details around 😏 keep your enemies guessing!

But, since I am determined to finish it by end of year—Sonder's Song still needs finishing—I needed to revamp my habits, which included a new coffee shop that will become a reward for milestones only 😂

Happy to report, I hit 50% done on first draft, have most everything plotted (it's a very squishy in the middle type story), and I managed to write 5k words in two days! Mind you, that's very good for me.

Now... stay tuned for some very exciting news 😏 if you want it, probably months early, pop over to my newsletter. Because, again, I can't help but spill the beans.

Happy spooky season, y'all! by @mpiper_writes

Betrayal's Toll by @mpiper_writes

This is an emotionally brutal sequel. The world is even darker than Price of Innocence; with constant tension, and absolutely no shortage of pain.

One of my favorite things about this book is the way it completely strips away any romanticized idea of knighthood. The chivalric order is built on cruelty, control, and political manipulation, showing just how ugly that can become.

The characters are carrying so much trauma and making choices that are morally complicated at best. They are constantly forced into impossible choices, and watching them try to survive those is devastating.

I’m not okay, and I desperately need the next book.

I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

Cosplay fun 👻

Progress pics included. Dylan dressed up as a Nazgûl for Bubonicon's Cosplay competition. It was such a delight to show off what I've learned from the community for the first time, since I've picked their brains a few times for his costumes, including Master Cheif last year.

We got second place... only because neither of us knew we also had to put together a show 😂 i didn't get his picture standing stock still. Next year we're coming for first place. He is still so proud 😂

Next year? He wants to be a dragon again from Wings of Fire. We've got a whole year to make it happen 😏

The best part is that Halloween will be a breeze this year. by @mpiper_writes

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Review Time 🤩 Price of Innocence by Michelle Piper is a captivating dark fantasy filled with morally gray characters, complicated loyalties, and an unforgettable found family. Her ability to paint a vivid scene and bookscape through her words is uncanny. I am better off than when i first discovered it now having completed the read 😍 By the way her continuation Betrayal’s Toll just dropped on August 20th be sure to check it out as well 🫶 #bookstagram #booksta #indieauthor #fantasybooks #bookreviewer by @mpiper_writes

Character art drop 🥳🎉

Done by yours truly.
In order: Sonder. Drisil. Áki. Sonder in full armor. Merrick

I had a BLAST doing these. They're going to be stickers. And, yes, I know Rhianwyn is missing... alas, I needed these done by Bubonicon, and I had to order them TONIGHT to get them in time (pray EVERYTHING gets here on time, it is down to the wire).

It's truly amazing to me how quickly I got comfortable, though. Merrick, the grump with a cup, took me 23hrs! As did Sonder, the little cutie in armor (bonus him with his helmet). But, the level of detail is night and day. Drisil? Took me 10. Áki? 9.

Plus, I stopped fighting everything and accepted my style. As a traditional girly, I make Procreate behave like paints and graphite. I like blending, I like mixing color. Color theory? Kinda getting the hang of it—Merrick has none, everyone else does. I'm finally learning to manage layers, too.

I love doing art... I am slowly building my confidence to do small commissions. So, if you're interested in helping me build my portfolio, reach out. Maybe we can work something out :)

Oh, and would my speed paints be interesting? 👀

My posting schedule is interrupted by vacation time. I'm having some very deserved time off under the Canary Island's sun.

Catching up on my reading and TBR under the lemon tree. Check out @mpiper_writes Sonder Song's series! Part two is coming out this month.
