I injured my left knee. Lateral meniscus tear. I had surgery last Thursday 07/10 with Dr Sterett at Vail-Summit Orthopedics. It was a root repair to suture it back to the bone. Stem cells were added to aid in healing. I'll be 6 weeks on crutches and a big brace. At least I can be 30% weight bearing, which makes it manageable to get around. 3-4 months recovery and PT to get back to normal activity. Pain and swelling are minimal. Im not taking any pain meds. The skill, expertise, and technology of modern medicine is truly amazing! I'm grateful to have access to the high quality health care teams here in the Vail Valley, and get this injury repaired 2 weeks after it happened. If I didn't have it repaired, arthritic degeneration would accelerate and I'd need a full knee replacement in 3-5 yrs. The rest of my knee is very healthy, and it's possible that it may last for the rest of my days. With all the surgeries and repairs I've had, that's a big deal for me. How successful the procedure and healing process will be won't be known until 8-9 months. The sutures will hold the repair in place for that long. If I do too much, too soon, I could compromise the procedure and it could fail. For the next 6 weeks I can do light upper body exercises and non-weight bearing mobility for my knee. 3 days later I'm doing what I can do at #crossfitdownvalley If all goes well with no complications, I'll be able to ski this winter and hopefully get in some fall fly fishing. by @mppukas

My brand new #currentbackyard Model G Dual Zone electric grill is DOA. Dead-On-Arrival. Does. Not. Work. I’m so frustrated. Assembly instructions say it should take ½ hr to put together. With unpacking, sorting and understanding all the parts and fasteners, and clean-up, it took over 2.5 hours. Then it didn’t work when plugged in. Only the right display lights up. The left display and center control knob light ring do not light up. The device does not show up on my Wi-Fi network, so I cannot connect it to the app via BT. I’m always skeptical of new brands pumping new products with slick marketing, even slicker social media adds, propaganda ads with mediocre everyday “chefs”, and high-profile celebrity endorsements. Hey, even #altonbrown has to do what he can to maintain his baller lifestyle post-Food Network. After spending 3+ hours of my Sunday, I spent over an hour on-hold with Current customer support, and then another ½ hour with an actual person on the who had to “look into” what to do. Then I had to reply to an email with pics of the problem. Now I have to wait 24-48 hours for a response. I do not know what the response will be, but I assume I’ll get a call from a tech support and they walk me through some trouble shooting steps to try to identify and resolve the problem. Hopefully, the control panel can be reprogrammed and it will work. Next possible option, and IMO most probable, is the control panel will have to be replaced. That will entail me having to wait several days for processing and shipping, and then more hours of my time to uninstall and reinstall. AND, they’ll probably want me to package and return something to them, for verification and testing. F”! all that!!! Any brand, Current Backyard or other, should deliver products that work OOTB. You spent so much $$$ on marketing and advertising, promising a revolutionary product, only to deliver a dud and massive frustration and a waste of my time. by @mppukas

Days 2 & 3, 23/24 season, at Beaver Creek and Vail. So far the first days on back on snow with the new knee feels great! Modern orthopedics are amazing!!! Truly grateful for the skill, knowledge, and expertise of all the doc's, staff and medical professionals that patch me up so I can keep going. Getting back on alpine skis has been awesome, but challenging. I was never great alpine skier. Fortunately some skills transfer from snowboarding and tele, and I'm progressing! #tryingtocarveagain by @mppukas

A week+ after Pop passed, 3 1/2 months since total right knee repkacement, and gettin' after it again at @crossfitdownvalley . It's taken me quite a bit longer to feel up to CF workout than I expected. Emotionally tired. Also caught a sinus cold back East. Wasn't up to doing the full workout today, so did a scaled back version. I'm excited to be running again! taken in CrossFit Down Valley by @mppukas

Big fish Little fish Swimming in the water... First ever sculpin on the fly! Never seen or heard of anyone catching one before. I thought it was a clump of moss until i felt it wiggling. Good sized, 3"+. The rainbow was quite good too, close but not over 20. The pics don't either justice. Eagle River with birthday boy Mark Sassi !
