Today is a big day. 🩷

Today, was my last day of radiation. Today, I'm considered Cancer-Free.

This milestone means that the next half of my journey is about making sure it never comes back.

I am so grateful for my family, my medical team and my village. I know I still have a hell of a journey ahead of me but today, we celebrate. by @mpreddie89

Cancer looks different for every patient.

For me, it looks different every day. It's a roller coaster of fear and hope, of wins and losses, of composure and mess. Quiet self- commitments of resolve and strength, spattered with moments of emotional fatigue and tears. Sometimes, I'm ready to tackle the world and other days, I fall back into the "why me" and want to curl up in a bed and just be left alone.

I've lost a part of me, I'll never get back. I've changed my children's lives; they've lost some of the innocence of their childhood. I've lost time, I've lost control. I've lost progress. I've lost peace and nights' sleep. I have felt broken. Damaged. Unworthy. Jaded. Some days, I lose strength. Sometimes I lose resilience. Sometimes, I'm afraid.

But I haven't lost my hair.

I've also gained. I've gained perspective and scars. I've gained insight into this disease and the experiences of so many amazing survivors. I've gained moments with friends - to sit and simply be loved. I have gained memories of my little ones showing up for their mum- holding my hand when I cant move, telling me how proud they are of me. I have gained lifelong memories of laughter, comfort and support from my husband on early commutes to the hospital, through late night confessions and the loving care of "Nurse Doran". I have gained immense gratitude for Dr. Knowles and her medical team. I have seen a community of people gather around me and my family, to protect us, love us and support us. I see you, I appreciate you.

I am forever grateful and I am forever changed.

But still, it's not over. I know my journey will take years and I'm nowhere near getting off this rollercoaster. I know there are dark and bright days ahead. There are more sick days, surgeries, risks and recoveries to come. I will have more scars, more treatments and more tears. I know I'm still sick and yet, I'm still healing. I know that I'm not alone.

There's always that next step, the next appointment, the next option, the next day.
