📣 BIG NEWS!!! 🎇 I am thrilled to announce that I am the newest member of Cville Arts, a cooperative artist gallery on the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville, VA! I wanted to wait and post this when my display was 100% done (still some empty wall space), but now I have Covid so I won't be going out in public for a bit. 🤧

I hope you'll stop in the next time you're in downtown Charlottesville to take in all of the beautiful art there. The gallery is comprised of more than 50 Virginia artists and artisans with mediums ranging from oil painting to wood carving, ceramics to jewelry, photography to fiber arts.

I'm so excited to be participating in EMERGE at this year's Fall Foliage Festival in Waynesboro, VA on October 10th and 11th! 🍂🥳🍁

EMERGE is a special exhibition of emerging and local artists taking place inside the Shenandoah Valley Art Center's beautiful gallery at 416 W. Main Street in Waynesboro during Fall Foliage Festival.

I'll be there 10-5 on Sat and Sun with original artwork, prints, and more. I'll probably be doing some live painting as well - come on down and say hello! 👋😊🖌🎨

I've been a little quiet here lately because life has been life-ing and I haven't had a lot of finished work to share. But that doesn't mean I haven't been finding pockets of time to paint! 🎨🖌 Here's a little BTS from some of those moments.

It's not easy having a full-time job while also trying to launch an art career. (Who can relate? 🙋‍♀️) I always know when I'm pushing myself too hard because my creative flow gets blocked and I can't paint. When that happens, I know I need to dial it down and REST. 🧘‍♀️💖

Autumn is here and the days are getting shorter. I can feel my body wanting to slow down and yet, I have some exciting plans and events coming up between now and New Year's! So I rest when I can, push when I must, and remain grateful for all of it. ❤️🍂

🎉 I'm so thrilled to be included in ✨️Teeny Tiny Trifecta✨️ once again! This is the 9th year of this super fun exhibit and fundraiser for the @secondstreetgallery and it's the largest one yet, with 203 artists participating! 👩‍🎨🎨🖼

My three paintings, along with 606 other original works, will be available at the VIP Preview Party on Thursday, 9/3, followed by the Opening Reception on Friday, 9/4 from 5-7:30 pm.

All works are priced at $125 with the proceeds split between the artist and the gallery, which is the oldest nonprofit contemporary art space in Central Virginia. It's a wonderful way to collect affordable art and support an important community space at the same time! ❤️

After posting my last painting, a friend let me know that July 18-26 is actually National Moth Week here in the U.S.! I had no idea. 😂

💡Did you know that there are around 17,500 species of butterflies, but there are 160,000 species of moths? According to the @brandywineconservancy, this is because moths evolved before butterflies and have had more time to diversify. Cool, right? 💫

I painted this moth last night, switching from gouache back to watercolor, where I feel more comfortable. ❤️ Again, this is not a particular species of moth, but it is inspired by the patterns and colors of real moths. 😊

Last year, I painted a moth as part of my #artcollab group and ever since then, I've been wanting to paint more moths! 🖌🎨

Until fairly recently I thought moths were mostly pretty boring-looking (minus a few notable exceptions), but now I know that there are a huge number of moths with beautiful colors and markings. 😍

These paintings will not feature specific species of moths, but are definitely inspired by real moths and their colors/markings.

I've been wanting to get more familiar with gouache, so I used watercolor for the background and gouache for the moth. I'm working on my third moth painting now, and am looking forward to continuing the series!
