Jumpin’ off the Porch, I was a Lil’ scholar 👨🏽‍🏫 On Me…Follow Me…Manifestation is real…Good Energy is real! Yaaaahearrmeeeee… Proverbs 6:23”For the Commandment is a lamp; and the Law is a Light” 🔦 Still can’t believe I can officially share that I landed one of the biggest opportunities in my life as an Assistant Adjunct Professor 🎓! As a young Black professional currently pursuing my Doctorate in Education this moment is one I’ve prayed and waited for my entire life. This fall, I’ll be co-teaching a 3-credit First Year Experience (FYE) course supporting the First-Year Freshman Academic Department while helping assist events/programs on generational support. 💻 From the time I was a young scholar I’ve aspired to teach at the collegiate level and stepping into this role reminds me that positivity and purpose always align at the right time. 🙏🏽What makes me want to cry the most is the opportunity to build sustainable relationships with students that empower them to perform at their highest academic potential, things they shall never forget. This past decade brought love, loss, reflection, and growth in ways I never imagined. I’ve seen homies pass, relationships shift, family strengthen, and my own understanding of purpose deepen.Losing my dad changed me forever he remains one of my biggest motivators. His spirit and the support of my family keep me grounded and focused. Being a young African American male with a Bachelor’s of Arts in History & Masters In Public Administration has provided me the perfect foundation for pursuing the career of my choice, which is to become a professor at a local HBCU college/university or Dean at the higher educational level. Since elementary school, I’ve always had a huge interest in history and how these past events have affected people, places and the societies that bring them together.Wanting to become a professor has brought many new perspectives on my outlook for past events, and has allowed me to become even more in tune with not only how school systems function but the pedagogy of inquiry-based learning, which has shifted entirely.I feel as I was placed on this earth to educate the minds of other people, take on massive leadership roles within the community and inspire service in the public interest.My objective is to use these skills of critical and creative thinking to address different methodologies of teaching, but also to discover new methods for educational leadership and resolve issues that promote a diverse and well-rounded community. Yoooo, these last couple of weeks have been such a gratifying experience for me. As I sit here and wrap my mind around the many things I’ve been able to accomplish in this beautiful city of Atlanta over the last 5 years, it shifts my energy ☝🏾 I’ve had the opportunity to start my own clothing business @shopgrandpascloset and obtain my Masters In Public Administration Cum Laude. The many connections, networks and relationships I’ve been able to invest in to help me grow has been impeccable.Before I get ready to move in the next couple days I wanted to share that a couple weeks ago I had the opportunity to style and provide a Grandpa Garment to @kcamp MR.FLOAT 🌬.
