yeehaw, ghouls and vampires!!! my second annual halloween spooky spectacular is nigh once again on 10/29. it’s my first FULL BAND show since 2025, taking place at @wildhorsesnyc with a talented drag opener @mr.mpleasure 🤠 it’ll be roaring good time where i’ll be playing some oldies, new ones, and secret unreleased songs as well as more halloween surprises in store… see y’all there!

I had the absolute pleasure of participating on the panel Drag Kings of the Con at @newyorkcomiccon this weekend!! it was an honor to share my experiences as a performer and thoughts on masculinity with a packed (!!) room of drag king fans, and to hear the perspectives of @murrayhill @mrmobdick @unclefreak2020 and @isthishenlobullfrog . I unfortunately had to leave immediately after the panel but what I saw on my way out was so good I was able to make peace with it. 🤭

Crossdressing on stage has changed in the past 180 years, but the power of a performer’s ambition and the strength of family loyalty are the same. ❤️
When @mrmobdick asked me to pay tribute to a drag king of history, Charlotte Cushman was the perfect choice. A Shakespearean actress dubbed “America’s First Celebrity”, Charlotte was driven by her ambition and the love she had for her family. She was as smart as she was talented, and did everything she could to improve her star power. When Charlotte realized that American audiences valued European actors over their own, she made the move to London. When she needed a Juliet to her Romeo out there, she invited her younger sister to join her - a smart move that took care of multiple issues at once (put a damper on the lesbian rumors that would surely be inflamed by the play, made even more $$ for her family, AND insured she would have a deep connection and playful energy with her Juliet!)
To be Charlotte, I made some calculated choices of my own: I lip-synced one of the biggest celebrities of our time Leonardo DiCaprio in his turn as Romeo from the 1996 movie. I invited my sister @elliotfrancesflynn to be part of it - a beautiful and talented actress, and the only person I know whose ambition and passion for her craft matches my own.
There’s also so much to be said about adaption and Shakespeare and longevity and legacy, but for now I will leave it at this - Being Charlotte Cushman was an honor and a perfect match!

Meet MAXXX PLEASURE as Charlotte Cushman, a wildly popular world renowned American male impersonator from the 1800’s, at The Drag King History Show on Sat OCT 3rd, 8pm showtime @bscenenyc

The Drag King History Show is a fundraiser where Drag Kings will bring historical performers to life on stage. Proceeds support the maintenance and continuance for dragkinghistory(dot)com, a community funded digital archive which is being archived in The U.S. Library of Congress

@mr.mpleasure (he/him) is a Brooklyn-based Drag King, hailed as a “rough around the edges, rock n’roll king with a soft and sensitive center.” Over the last 12 years, Pleasure has featured in the annual drag festival Bushwig, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Sasha Velour’s Nightgowns, the Austin International Drag Festival, with historic drag collective Switch n’ Play and opening for Chappell Roan on her Midwest Princess Tour. He has amassed an internet following on YouTube, where he shares tips for aspiring drag performers, and on Instagram and TikTok, where he shares performance clips and DIY costume reels. He has been seen in outlets including Refinery29, NowThis, and Vogue. You may recognize him as Drag King Edward Cullen.
