#openingweek Having had the rare opportunity to experience professional baseball from two distinct perspectives—as both a player and an umpire—has given me a deep and well-rounded appreciation for the game. As a player, I lived the intensity of competition, the discipline required to perform, and the camaraderie built within a team. Transitioning to an umpire allowed me to see the game through a different lens, where fairness, focus, and split-second decision-making became paramount. These dual roles not only strengthened my understanding of baseball but also instilled a lasting respect for everyone who contributes to the integrity and spirit of the sport.
