📢 CALL FOR CONTRIBUTORSAre you a Black man with Tourette’s syndrome?Tumi Sotire and I are looking to connect with a Black man with Tourette’s syndrome for an upcoming project exploring the lived experiences of Black neurodivergent men.Too many Black neurodivergent #voices, especially those with #Tourette’s, have been #missing from the #conversation. We want to help change that by amplifying real stories and increasing #representation.No writing or research experience is needed, and support will be provided. “Can a woman forget her nursing child,And not have compassion on the son of her womb?”— Isaiah 49:15 (NKJV)Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and mothers-to-be.In Nigeria there’s a famous song called “Sweet Mother.” One lyric says:“Sweet mother, I no go forget you,For all the suffer wey you suffer for me.”It perfectly captures the sacrifice mothers make.As a Black neurodivergent man diagnosed with dyspraxia at four, the role my mum played in my life was crucial. She was a pharmacist working in the NHS, and when challenges came. whether education or mental health she knew how to navigate systems and advocate for me in ways I couldn’t yet do myself.I was also blessed with my grandmother, my mum’s mum, a primary school teacher in Nigeria, who spent time helping me with schoolwork when I was younger. Looking back, I realise how powerful it was to grow up surrounded by women who valued education, care, and belief in my potential.And one of the most significant things my mum ever did?She introduced me to the queen of my heart — my wife.Our mums were friends at university and introduced us virtually in 2020. University should give more than a degree, it should help you understand who you are .It was a real pleasure to be back at the @uniofexeter speaking at the Belonging Lab Showcase.Walking through the campus and city again honestly felt like I was a kid in a candy store I graduated in 2015, and my time there was truly pivotal. I left with far more than a degree . I left with a deeper understanding of myself , my strengths and I how I added value to the world around me. I often describe this moment as my neurodiversity coming of age moment.One of the highlights of the events was learning about The Belonging Game , an innovative initiative created by incredible academics to foster meaningful environments where students staff feel seen , heard and valued and where people genuinely feel like they belong During my talk I reflected on what belonging really means . For mr belonging means “to be “ for a long period of time To be seenTo be heardTo be valued To be taken seriously To be allowed to to show up as your authentic self I also spoke about how we can intentionally design environments where this a particularly through universal design in education . Creating belonging at university requires all stakeholders to recognise that experience is about far more than just a degree programme Belonging matters I truly hope every student gets to experience university in a way I did . The value of that experience goes far beyond what can ever be quantified.Massive shoutout to Dr Dominic Wiredu Boakye , Dr Winifred Nyinoh Professor Musarrat Maisha and Dr Shalinee the academics the created the incredible Belonging Game by @mr_tumz__

2016 → now. I’ve been sitting with this photo for a while.This was taken in November 2016 and posted on Facebook, not long after I started my postgraduate at York .At the time, I was cycling around the city.The caption I wrote back then was: “Dyspraxia what?”What I did not know and couldn’t have known was that within days my mental health would deteriorate.I did not complete that Master’s year planned at the same time as everyone else . I had to pause my studies for a few months , meaning that all the modules that were due to be assessed in term 1 were assessed in the summer . I could not justify retaking the year financially.At that point, there was no clear sense of what came next.I didn’t know that years later I would be working on research connected to dyspraxia.I did not know I would be speaking, coaching, or contributing to conversations about race, neurodiversity, and inclusion.I did not know my lived experience would become something I’d draw on professionally.And I didn’t know I would end up building a life north of York.The language of intersectionality and neurodiversity barely existed at least not in the ways we use it today.I didn’t have frameworks, vocabulary, or community to lean on.But I was still trying to be visible.Still testing what my body and mind could do.Still moving through the world.Still refusing to shrink myself around a diagnosis I didn’t yet have words for.This isn’t a neat “before and after” story.It’s a reminder that pauses aren’t endings.That survival can look like movement.And that growth often only makes sense in hindsight.Grateful not because it was easy, but because it shaped how I now show up.As long as you have a brain 🧠, you can be excellentThankful to God !!#Dyspraxia #DCD by @mr_tumz__

Halftime. ⚽️🧠The last five years changed everything.A pandemic.New ways of working.AI becoming part of everyday life.A lot of clarity about who truly values inclusion, and who does not.This is why I am less interested in yearly goals and more interested in a five year strategy.2020 to 2025 was the first half.Now comes the adjustment.In football, halftime is not about motivation alone.It is about reflection, honesty, and deciding what needs to change if you want to win.That is how I am thinking about my career, my business, and my advocacy.🧠 As long as you have a brain, you can be excellent.🏆 And excellence is how you win by 2030.What is one thing you are changing for the second half of this decade?#Neurodivergent#NeurodiversityAwareness#dyspraxia #dyspraxiaawareness #2026 by @mr_tumz__
