Hey Momma,

I love you.

In a year so much has changed. It’s hard to sleep at night because it’s been a nightmare living out these dreams without you. Funny enough you went to sleep and yet I feel like I’m the one that can’t wake up.

I realized I believed in GOD’s divine love and mercy because out of all the mothers I could have been given too… I found myself in your arms.

While I cry most days, it’s really because I’m so happy that my angel finally got the rest she so rightfully deserved, and GOD gave you something I tried my best to provide but couldn’t, peace. That truth still hurts.

The real Hell of it all is realizing your Heaven was here on Earth with you in the everyday. But you realize that that was the mission….honor your father and mother…..because that was GODs blessing to me the whole time…YOU. I thank GOD we never wasted a day with each other, but created a bond that couldn’t be explained but rather had to be witnessed to understand.

There was no task too great for me and you, no sacrifice too high, no act too small, no words left unsaid, and no promise unkept.

So I come to you my best friend, my superhero, my heart, my soul, my why, my one and only mom, and I bring to you another finished accolade.

We became the First Oncologic Physical Therapy Clinical Resident and Finished!

Another trophy for you, another title to wear, but until you come get me……I’ll always just be,

Hey, I hope you’re still watching.

I hope I made you proud. Lord knows I wasn’t perfect but I tried. Forgive me for the errors of a broken heart.

I hope you know you were my inspiration, I did it all in your name. Every chemo and radiation you endured gave me another reason to fight.

So the trophies of class president, oncology residency, institutional and departmental awards are yours to keep. My career is just a tribute to you and your perseverance.

I hated myself for not being able to help you more and you loved me…..you still believed in me.

Pain became passion. Nightmares became dreams. Classmates and friends became family. The Onco Kid was born. A promise fulfilled.

You raised a Doctor. And with GOD’s help I’ll raise the standard.

My love letter to you. I’ll be home soon. ❤️

7 years.

7 years and I still cry.

When we got accepted I felt so much pain. I felt pressure. I felt peace. I felt you smile. I heard you again. I miss you.

We will be attending Winston Salem State University for a Doctorate of Physical Therapy.

I’ll never be able to thank everyone….I hope they know I am forever grateful and humbled. I think one of God’s greatest blessings was their love and support.

When this game has its final buzzer….I pray I see you again. But until then, we keep getting better, we keep scoring, we keep playing.

My love letter to you. I’ll be home soon. ❤️

We are BLACK MEN!... We build...we don’t tear down other BLACK MEN! We have felt the pain of being torn down and we have decided we will be deliberate about building others! If I didn’t tag you, please don’t be offended. I tried to pick people I thought would do this challenge! I know you’ve been watching. I hope you’re proud.
Tomorrow I bring back to you a Masters in Exercise Physiology. Tomorrow we defy the odds and go back to back at THE University of North Carolina at Chapel-Hill. I wouldn’t be here without you. You were my motivation, my crutches through it all.
I can still hear you. I still love you. I’m going to bring that doctorate back that I promised.
Throughout all the accomplishments, beating all the statistics; I still only hear you, see you cheering.
Not many know the tears, nor see the pain. But they all know my motivation.
