Repost • @isaachayes3 We all experience the Democratic Party differently, but it is not one giant bubble. It is made up of microcommunities, cities, counties, neighborhoods, churches, and people who vote locally and shape the agenda through participation.

So if you feel like the Democratic Party has never done anything on behalf of Black people, the only way that changes is if somebody in the Democratic Party is actually doing things on behalf of you. The agenda you want requires representation, consistency, discipline, and focus, with no emotion involved.

America owes us, but we know this country will often refuse to support us unless we force the issue through organization and participation.

So the movement that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and so many others fought and died for now requires follow through from us.

Voting must become culture. Voting must become duty. Voting should be as natural to us as soul food and the Electric Slide.

Only 7% of the state has shown up to the polls so far.

That means 93% of the state still hasn’t voted. Somebody you text, somebody you work with, somebody in your family, somebody reading this right now still hasn’t gone.
