Finally found some time to work on some lead playing over a really lovely backing track. What started out as trying to improvise, ended up in me trying to pick apart the chord progression and see which notes complimented them a piece at a time.

I wasn’t particularly focusing on the phrasing, but the notes i wanted to start and end a phrase with.

It allowed me to experiment with blending major and minor pentatonic, chromatics, dominant, wholetone and highlighting the b5 over certain chords.

Remaining focused in the moment is a struggle sometimes for me, and that’s when I’ll end up blazing all over the place, not connecting with the music itself. By slowing down, studying the chord formulas and listening to the Melodies I hear in my head, it will hopefully bleed into my improvisation.

Some old @theparallaxmethod footage from a live show in 2019, supporting the incredible ‘Thank You Scientist.’

This was actually pre-album version of ‘Lava Palaver’.
