God is no longer in the business of being angry at us. All His wrath, at the sin we committed, was poured out on His son, Jesus Christ, when He died for us. This sacrifice happened so that we would never have to be objects of God's anger, but only of His love. We live in God's presence, ever joyful, never to be sorrowful. by @mrdenson32055

The Christian has a grand and eternal hope, which is guaranteed Him by the very Word of God. It is this hope that refreshes His soul and enables Him to endure and continue in the faith, even in great tribulation. And the joy of this hope seems only to grow the brighter, the darker be the situation in which the Christian is presently found. by @mrdenson32055

Paul uses a strong word here, but in Greek and older English it has the meaning of "judgment," in this context, and not an eternal condemnation to Hell. Paul is not saying you will perish eternally if you eat the Lord's Supper unworthily. But he is saying that God may discipline believers who partake in an irreverent manner, seeing how great and holy a thing Communion symbolizes. by @mrdenson32055

God's commands were to be the everyday meditation of the Israelites. They were to not only teach God's Word to their children formally but also in the course of the ordinary habits of life and at all times of the day by @mrdenson32055

The Queen of Sheba here recognizes the true cause of King Solomon's and of the nation Israel's greatness. It was that the LORD their God had loved them and delighted to bless them. by @mrdenson32055

Christ was offered only once that he might bear the sins of many. He was the one-time sacrifice for sin that paid the sin-debt of his people once for all. He is not sacrificed again and again in the weekly mass, nor is there need for animal sacrifices to continue, nor can men add their own good works to the price He has paid for sin. by @mrdenson32055

It has often happened in the history of man's warfare that a clever strategy has won against superior equipment. But that is still earthly wisdom. In the spiritual realm, the wisdom of God found in Scripture is mightier than all the weapons of the enemy. But in any work for God, one sinner left unchecked, and in a position of authority especially, can cause great harm. by @mrdenson32055

On the Mount of Transfiguration, Jesus was changed before them so that they saw His glory. And the voice of the Father rang out through the clouds, "This is My Beloved Son - Hear Him!" God had spoken in times past in many ways, but now He sent His Son and spoke to us in Him (Hebrews 1:1). No one is in the same category as Jesus, not saints or Mary or prophets or apostles - no one. He is God's one and only beloved unique Son. by @mrdenson32055

It was clear to those who saw Jesus' miracles, including this one where He calmed the sea and wind by His mere command, that He was much more than just an ordinary man. But they could see He had flesh and bones and appeared as a man before their eyes. He was "the God-man," fully human yet fully divine. Even those who did not know this, however, could see there was something very different about this Man. by @mrdenson32055

There was no sickness that Jesus could not heal. There was no demon or group of demons that he could not cast out by His mere authoritative word. He fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah in a grand manner, healing many, most likely thousands. by @mrdenson32055

Paul here speaks of his gathering a special offering for the poor, persecuted saints at Jerusalem and of the generosity of the believers in Macedonia. He tells the Corinthians of their example of giving themselves wholly to the Lord. Though he does not command them to give to this cause (verse 😎, he encourages them with the example of the Macedonians and of Christ Himself (verse 9). by @mrdenson32055
