Cottonwoods have always been a favorite tree of mine.
.
They're one of the largest trees in Arizona and are a critical keystone species that stabilizes river banks and supports dense webs of life all over the state.
.
They're also great to climb! With age, their bark becomes thick and handholds form all the way up. Back in 8th grade, I climbed to the top of one that had a 40' rope swing and got stuck though. My friend had to climb a nearby tree and throw the swing up to me. I jumped with slack in the rope and got horrible rope burns. Would do again though!

Thornless Honey Locust
(Gleditsia triacanthos var. inermis)

This incredibly underrated tree is one of my favorite species for the Phoenix area. Some qualities I enjoy include:

Wakes up late in the Spring, allowing for good light in the Winter. Drops leaves early in the Fall, allowing for good light in the Fall.

Leaves are small enough to break down quickly, but large enough to not be as much of a hassle as other desert species.

Seeds are large, and don't readily sprout unless tended to.

Creates a beautiful canopy with an almost prehistoric or jurassic look.

Nitrogen-fixing legume, improves soil and doesn't need any fertilizing.

Extremely heat tolerant, cold tolerant, salt tolerant and alkaline tolerant. Aside from natives, few plants compare in resiliency. by @mrdiamondwalker

Everyone wants to trim their trees up up up, but then you can't grasp the blooms.

Calamondin / Calamansi Lime

This natural, wild hybrid of Kumquat and orange has a unique flavor and is popular throughout Asia. When green, the fruit is sour like a classic lime but it develops a delicious, fruity flavor and edible rind as it ripens. Absolutely delicious to a lime-lover like myself.

Thank you @_farmerjohn_ for the generous gift.

If anyone is interested in trying a few, please reach out. The fruit has a short shelf life, so most is being frozen.

Finally got to try fruit from a Pachycereus pecten-arboriginum! It was challenging to open, with the fuzz and spines being hard to cut through.
The fruit was beautiful and juicy but surprisingly dull in flavor, resembling a watermelon. The seeds had a soft, pleasant texture and actually provided more flavor, with a taste like poppy seeds or almonds.
I'm going to be saving seeds to eat in breads or salads, so if anyone wants some to propagate, just ask.
