For twenty years, I have dedicated my Mondays through Fridays to working as a teacher at Windmill Day School & Camp. This will be the first school year that I will not be educating a classroom full of children since 2006. From then until I had my first son, the Windmill children were like my own. With teamwork from my colleagues, we raised young children to not only be bright kids, but wonderful human beings. I am so proud of my work and the person teaching helped me become.

Once I had children of my own, somewhere along the journey, I lost my passion. It took me a while to figure it out, but my own kids deserved the “Mr. Dion” so many experienced before them. They don’t deserve a tired teacher at the end of the day - they need every ounce of youthfulness and fun I have left.

With the love, support, and care the Windmill family has given me throughout all these years, they made it possible for me to gradually shift focus toward my future. I will never be a stranger at that magical place off of N. Chapman Road. There is something to be said about a place so special that it always makes you feel like you belong - a true community, a bubble, a place that reminds you everything is going to be alright.

It’s the people that make the place, though. To my family, for always believing in me. To all the people who worked alongside me for being equal parts supportive and hilariously unhinged - you made every single day memorable. To the Lowenthals and Silversteins, for giving me a chance to be myself and grow into an educator - we don’t have to be blood to be family. To all of the parents who saw a bearded, tattoo-covered guy and trusted him with their children - I hope your kids grow up to be great people.
