Since 2000, Disney & Pixar made changes to the First Toy Story film from 1995 most of them were pretty minor. However starting in 2009, Disney started making crucial changes to Toy Story most notably the opening Logos. I think Toy Story suffered from it the most as it’s very jarring to watch. by @mrgeebers

Disney & Pixar’s Toy Story (1995) has gone through many changes over the years (mostly minor) but starting in 2000 Disney wanted Pixar’s first movie to be digitally scanned for DVD releases rather than scanning it via film tins. But this led to many animation errors during transferring. by @mrgeebers

For the film Thomas and the Magic Railroad (TATMR), new models of Thomas and Percy were constructed, notably using brass as the primary material. This was a departure from the earlier plastic models and resin (for Thomas in season 4), and it was done for several reasons. The existing models, having been used extensively for the television series, were starting to show wear and tear, and the brass construction aimed to create more robust models better suited for the demands of filming a feature film. The production crew felt that the original models’ glossy livery and potential imperfections, while acceptable for television, might be too noticeable on the large screen, so they opted for brass models with a matte finish. Brass models offered greater versatility in filming, allowing for a wider range of shots and actions that might have been difficult or risky with the original models. The TATMR brass Thomas model, along with a brass Percy, proved to be successful and continued to be used in subsequent series until the end of the model era. It’s important to note that both the brass and plastic models of Thomas coexisted for a period, with the original plastic model not being fully replaced in 2000. Eventually, in 2007 during the production of The Great Discovery, three more brass Thomas models were built, leading to the retirement of the resin model. The TATMR brass Thomas model featured some distinctive details, such as a scratch-built brass chassis, CNC wheels powered by a DC motor, and buffer-beam details built from scratch. In subsequent series, the brass models were updated with CNC machined aluminum chassis. A simple way to distinguish the plastic and resin models from the brass ones (in TATMR and seasons 6-7) is to check for glazing in the front portholes, which is present only in the plastic models. Another way to distinguish between Thomas’ models (seasons 8-11) is with the brass model the port holes were whitened out. by @mrgeebers
