FASHION EDITORIAL: JA, QUA, BORIAS (stone, tree, wind)

A Megrelian expression used to describe something so powerful, so colossal, that even the stones and trees are swept away by the wind. Shot across Tbilisi and its outskirts, from the city to Didgori, Ja, Qua, Borias is a poetic portrait of the designers currently shaping Georgia’s fashion landscape. Featuring exclusively Georgian designers, the editorial was shot with the support of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi.

Very excited to share the latest instalment of my biannual Talents Section for the new issue of @fraeuleinmagazine at peace.

While researching for this issue, I found myself returning to the idea of arrival. We spend so much of our lives moving towards something — a place, a version of ourselves, a moment we imagine will finally feel settled. But what if arrival is not a destination at all? What if peace exists only in fleeting moments of recognition?

Over the past few months, I had the pleasure of exploring these questions with three remarkable women whose practices resist the idea of a final destination. Across cooking, curation and choreography, our conversations became less about finding answers and more about making peace with uncertainty.

After 5+ years writing this column, I’m endlessly grateful to @fraeuleinmagazine and to @ankiriedl for continuing to create a magazine that values discovery over algorithms and curiosity over celebrity. It feels rare and precious to be given the space to champion people whose work deserves attention simply because it is thoughtful and inspiring.

To me, the local cool girl has always been infinitely more interesting than any Hollywood star.

Back in Tbilisi for @mbfashionweektbilisi , a city that has held such a special place in my heart ever since I celebrated my 22nd birthday here, many moons ago.

The food, the people, and most of all, the fashion, have me still completely in love with Georgia all these years later.

DECISION

Our 40th issue of @fraeuleinmagazine is out now - my 10th as a columnist.

In this installment of the Talents section, marking five years of unraveling ideas alongside inspiring minds (happy birthday to us), I’m not here to tell you what perfume I chose to wear, or which flowers currently grace my desk.
Instead, I want to introduce you to three remarkable women who embody decision-making on a far more profound level, shaping art, politics, and culture at large. I spoke with them, inviting myself into their respective universes, only to discover that while the world spins on grand gestures, it’s often the quietest choices that leave the most enduring impression.
