Set in Puerto Rico, a young girl named Nube discovers that her friend Kamil has been stealing food from her family’s garden.
Kamil asks Nube to keep it a secret, but Nube tells her best friend. Word gets out, and no one wants to play with Kamil. Nube tries to make it up to him and learns about Kamil’s difficult home life. In the end, Nube realizes that sharing helps everyone.

Best friends Sofia and Maddi play at the same park and live in the same neighborhood, but when Sofia goes to Maddi’s apartment for a snack, she sees the fridge has only one small carton of milk. Sofia learns that Maddi’s family doesn’t have enough money to buy food. Maddi makes Sofia promise not to tell anyone about her family.
Struggling to not break her promise, Sofia tries sneaking food from her own home to give to Maddi. Sofia ultimately breaks her promise knowing she can’t help Maddi alone.

Both books address food insecurity and economic disparity while also highlighting the importance of empathy, trust, forgiveness, and helping others. by @mrinalipr
