Today as I ponder the many things I’m thankful for one of them is that I am glad my guy McKade finished treatment last year and that his body is still doing great. I’m thankful for my family and friends support as they shared this journey with us. #givethanks by @mrjohnkramer

It’s been three years since we received news that would rock our world. A trial that we would live with for the untold future. The trials in our lives are never fun. The change it brings is always uncomfortable and the fear of the unknown has never felt more real. Once you go through something it’s always much easier looking back than it is while you’re living it. Here are a few of things I learned while going through this specific trial. Keep in mind I could go on and on but will keep it to three:
1. How to communicate with Heavenly Father through prayer. My prayers changed. Rather than asking for things from a helicopter view (please take away this cancer, make this situation go away), they became much more personal to the situation (please help me respond to the next results with a clear mind or bless me with patience that I can understand as thou would have me understand). I learned that it made my relationship much closer and I could identify things along the way He would want me to see.
2. There are a lot of good people out there. I know this comes at a very sensitive time and I understand that evil exists but I found many of our prayers were answered by people we know and don’t know. I learned durning this that actions are much better than just the thought. Whenever we feel impressed about something, act upon it. Don’t ever hesitate to not make the call or text you feel you need to. Learn to talk about how you feel about someone. We need to hear these things. Take time in our day to think about others. This is proven to create more happiness in our lives.
3. God loves us. Many have asked, myself included before, how can a God who loves us allow us to face such hard things. Many of my friends who read this have faced much more difficult challenges than I have. Divorce, sudden illness of a loved one, accidents which leave them handicap, suicide, death. We have to look at our lives on a bigger and grand level. This life is to prepare to meet God. The trials and test we face builds character and who we are and who we are to become. God wants us to be the good in the world; not only when things are good but also when get tough. by @mrjohnkramer
