Had the pleasure of reconnecting w some OGs at the very store that changed everything for me @rockawayrecords back in 1987. Before that I was just buying records from major chains like Tower/Music Plus and Warehouse Records. The man responsible for pointing me in the direction of “used records” alternative to major retail outlets was @mrmarvski My man helped shape my taste in music throughout the years. He was hipping me to things like Jimmy Spicer, Spoonie G to Billy Squire and Blowfly. And thus began the journey into the ‘world of records’ to make beats with. Enter his younger brother @mumbles_hip_hop who came up watching us make music with these records and was inspired to do it himself. I’ll never forget his first beat tape circa 91/92. The music choices and the parts of the records he chose to usereally changed the landscape of sampling for me. Eventually he would go on to produce the masterpiece A Book Of Human Language with @aceyalone where some of those beats go back pretty early with us. These guys are both musical giants that come from the Fowler family musical lineage and has obviously been passed down to these two. I feel very lucky to have been and still be in the presence of such talent, taste and knowledge. 🫡 🙏❤️ 🎶 by @mrmarvski
