Last night, James Martin was arrested on the charge of burning down a house that was registered under the ownership of his ex-wife Christine. The two were going through a divorce settlement when Martin claimed that since he was the one who made the down payment and paid the mortgage, and he only let his wife be named sole owner so that she could be the one to pay property taxes and home insurance, he was entitled to stay on the premises while she needed to leave. Unwilling to come to an agreement, Martin bought several cans of gasoline and a box of matches before driving to the house with the intention of burning it all to the ground - even his own possessions.

Witnesses claim that Martin was a man who was 'obsessive, possessive, and into a lot of weird shit', and in the aftermath of the fire, he was determined by police to be a prime suspect. Analyzing his credit card history, Martin was tracked down to a strip club that also functioned as a bed-and-breakfast, where he was duly arrested and detained. Martin seems to have no regret about what he did, claiming that he needed to exercise his 'property rights' in order to maintain his freedom and independence.

As of this writing, Christine is staying in her sister's basement as she prepares to file a lawsuit against her ex-husband for property vandalism and emotional abuse, all while waiting for her insurance claims to pay out. by @mrraen

There are people and places that you go to that make you want to be better than who you are, that inspire you to pursue a higher path because they help you believe that anything is possible.
