With over 150 new followers in the last 48 hours, I figured a re-introduction was in order! •I’m Ally (Mrs. Applegate 🍎 to all the tiny humans in my life) •I’ve been married for 10 years and have 3 boys who all attend my school! •I was a classroom teacher for 10 years before transitioning to the library! •I teach media classes for PK2-5th grade and Reading Enrichment (our advanced small group reading program) for 2nd-5th grade! •This is my second year in the library and I love it so much more than I ever expected! What else do you want to know? by @mrsapplegateslibrary

so you make them their very own book display for the week! Last year, one of the biggest projects I decided to take on in our Library was making sure we had many books to offer for topics that I knew the grade levels would be doing projects on. The kids being able to check out books easily at school on their project topics to be able to do research in books, not just online, was very important to me. These state profile books from @i55bookfairs were a great use of some of our Book Fair points from last year! And it’s actually funny how excited the 3rd graders were to grab one of their assigned state to use for their projects! Definite proof that simply having access to books is so important for kids!! by @mrsapplegateslibrary

500 is tiny compared to many influencers online, but when I think about the fact that 500+ people are even remotely interested in what I’m doing in my little library world, I find that pretty crazy! Think of being in a room with 500 people sharing your ideas and it feels a little mind blowing 🤯 Long story short, thank you for being here! I love getting to share all things library with you! 🫶🏻 by @mrsapplegateslibrary

“You must love getting to read books all day long” And I truly do! I absolutely LOVE my job. And I especially love getting to read books to my favorite tiny humans! But there are manyyyy tasks as a librarian that most people don’t even realize we do. Today I spent time covering paperback books that I am using for a novel study with my 5th graders (I also teach our school’s advanced reading enrichment small groups). I’m becoming much quicker at it the more I do it, but every paperback book in our library is covered with @demcoinc vistafoil. It’s very time consuming, but it makes our books last so much longer in the hands of our readers! Give me all your vistafoil tips & tricks below if there’s something I can do better! ⬇️ taken in Fort Lauderdale, Florida by @mrsapplegateslibrary

The first edition of the Library Mini Page for our media center is now available! Students can pick up their own copy of the mini page when they visit the media center! This month we shined the “Storytellers spotlight” on @chrissy.h.peterson & @joyhannamusic of @bigbiblestories! They donated a YOTO player & their full collection of Bible story cards to the Lower School Media Center and it has been the greatest addition to our space (I can’t wait to show you how we use it soon!). Head to their page to get your own Big Bible Stories cards for your YOTO! Thank you thank you thank you to @melissacorey for your incredible free Canva template to make this! My students have been loving the mini page so far! (Hearts added to cover our school name/logo) by @mrsapplegateslibrary
