The first month of school stretches your mind more than you admit. These affirmations are here to steady you before the overwhelm settles in.

Use them. Save them. Let them guide your thoughts.

The best example in the Bible that I find myself going to is Martha in Luke 10:40-41. Martha was distracted with doing and worried about so many things that she lost sight of being with Jesus. And honestly, many of us do the same. We lose time with our Lord because life keeps calling for something to be checked off the list.

There will always be an appointment, dishes, homework, food shopping. The list goes on. But passively living life robs you of the opportunity to truly see your family. Always being on the go robs them of getting to know you. You miss out on connection because you are fulfilling a task instead of experiencing a moment.

This week, I challenge you to take time aside and consider where you can reconnect with those around you. How can you invest your time by pouring into those you see on a day to day basis by giving three extra minutes to slow down. That small pause regulates the nervous system and shifts the body out of urgency and into presence.

Think about your children. What ways can you help them feel seen. What moments can you create that tell their hearts and their bodies, I am here and you matter.
And most importantly, how can you put Jesus first without rushing encounters with Him. This relationship is most important because it mirrors everything else. When your pace with Him is grounded, your pace at home follows.

Let us be present. Let us be purposeful. We set the pace in our home. Let it not be one that disrupts the nervous system but one that regulates it. #mrsappleminded by @mrsappleminded

I remember receiving my first apple in high school. At the time I wanted to teach Social Studies. I spent three years in a program that funneled minority students into the classroom. They offered a scholarship as long as you completed tutoring, observation and college visits.
After my first semester of college I lost that scholarship. Hope dropped fast. Transferring schools, state tests, missed observation hours… every step felt like another door closing. I faced discrimination in my field placement and had to plead for another chance to prove I was capable.

The journey to the classroom has not been easy. I know many can relate. But every apple milestone reminded me that I still had something to look forward to. I almost let failing tests and people’s perceptions push me out of education.

I remember feeling hopeless my first year of teaching because I couldn’t help my babies the way I wanted. That feeling pushed me program after program to learn how to support all learners. By the grace of God I see my impact now. My presence matters. My time in matters.

My former teachers still pour into me long after I left their class. They remind me that impact goes beyond curriculum.

I am blessed to hold this next milestone apple. I worked hard not just to stay in the classroom but to grow. Philippians 3:13 reminds me to release what tried to stop me and keep pressing toward what God has called me to.

What started as closing educational gaps as a reason to stay in has grown into showing families and children who Christ is through our interaction. This apple is proof of that. Here’s to almost a decade of IMPACT😮‍💨🍏🥳✨ by @mrsappleminded

Transitioning into a new workspace has shown me what it feels like to start from scratch. I had a rhythm before, but now everything feels unfamiliar.

For the first time in almost five years I am not in an academic program, and part of me wants to run toward the next thing. But I am learning that new patterns cannot be forced. I cannot create what I have never seen.

So I come back to this verse. God meets every need when I submit the process to Him. He knows the areas that need focus, the patterns that need breaking, and the strength I need to grow. He promises to supply all my needs, not some.

If you’re in a season of transitions, come rest in the truth that God provides✨ by @mrsappleminded

Single Momma, the world may forget about us, but God didn’t. You’re in my prayers. Take an affirmation and rest in it this month. Know that you’re seen, you’re loved and not forgotten. by @mrsappleminded

I found myself this week diving into student data before even meeting students. I made a decision to make THIS academic school year different. Yes, data tells a story, but it is only one part. Data is not just numbers. It is patterns, behaviors, moments, and needs that show up long before a test score ever does.

There is a whole child in front of me with likes, dislikes, strengths, fears, and areas to grow that data may never reveal.

“Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”
I Thessalonians 5:11 NKJV

Our job is not only to edify students but to comfort them. To create safe spaces where they can blossom. When we rely on numbers alone, we miss the human data. The relationship. The trust. The connection. The part of the story numbers cannot capture.

What part of the story are you choosing to pay attention to this year? by @mrsappleminded
